  1. I'm not naive enough to think it doesn't happen, but if that's the case then it's collusion and Bautista would be wise to shut his mouth. This is going to be a major distraction all year.
  2. Get lots of good players and draft well and have good pitching
  3. Whoa. Shots fired. Not gonna end well and Jose can say whatever he wants with no fear of being traded because he has 10/5 rights. This can go one of two ways. They can cave and sign him and give in to the cries of the fans, or they can listen to his big mouth all season long and go "f*** this, we can't have this guy taking a figurative s*** all over us in public any time something is on his mind, let him walk."
  4. Longer version of the Bautista video clip. http://www.tsn.ca/bautista-not-giving-blue-jays-a-hometown-discount-1.441718
  5. Here is the video: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/bautista-hometown-discount-doesnt-exist-given-jays-5-year-discount/?row=0&row_id=1617493 Lol he's not gonna budge, you can tell just watching him in that video. Someone should've asked him if he would block a trade.
  6. I think there's rubber between the turf and the concrete but there's so got to be a gap between the turf and the dirt I would think
  7. I'm having visions of Donaldson charging at a weak ground ball and tripping over the edge of the concrete, breaking his foot or something.
  8. Those edges do not look beveled to me. Color me concerned.
  9. 2004, and I think it was Paul Godfrey's fault primarily. I still remember being jacked for the press conference the unveiling and then watching Reed Johnson completely embarrassed modelling it.
  10. I worry about the edge of the concrete where the dirt meets the turf. I'm having visions of Donaldson hitting the edge and tripping and breaking something. They're smart and they've thought of this, right?
  11. I went to a Home Opener once. Never again. I'm gonna try for tickets for a bunch of late September games, hoping to be there if they clinch the division or at least it's meaningful baseball.
  12. To a contending team prospects are currency. When we are rebuilding they're more valuable. But this franchise doesn't have the best track record with developing homegrown talent with some notable exceptions (Halladay, Wells, Delgado, etc). Until player development is fully in order prospects are currency, and frankly I would sell the farm to win one World Series.
  13. Exceptional players, different than most prospects.
  14. When we start having a firesale with this lineup, we will end up with the best farm system in baseball. Also most prospects never play a game in the big leagues so they're basically just trade currency anyway.
  15. f*** that, trade him to the Dodgers and give them a chance to sign him before Boston can.
  16. It looks like they had a pajama party.
  17. Photoshopped concept. Would be nice if they did the warning track and foul territory as well but I guess that's the next logical step next off season/beyond.
  18. Play it safe and pick a name from the past so they can't get traded away. Stieb, Fernandez, Olerud...
  19. Couple more spots left if anyone wants to jump in.
  20. His name is Munenori Kawasaki. And he is JAPANESE.
  21. Sorry if I'm not supposed to post this here, saw one other doing the same and figured it would be fine. This is a 12 man, new dynasty league run through FanTrax by Dynasty Sports Empire. It is a cash league, $50 USD buy in with a $450 pot the first year. Fee goes up to $75 in the second year and $100 in all years beyond that, and the pot goes up substantially as well. It's a slow draft meaning it will likely take about 3-4 weeks to fully complete, each team gets a 40 man roster, draft picks are tradeable and there's a prospect draft as well. PM me for more details.
  22. You must have been sitting very close to me that game because I watched that happen from my seat. What a tool.
  23. His career stats, to save you from searching. http://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.cgi?id=leon--001ale Depth move I guess. Good AAA numbers this past season though.
  24. From A's for cash or PTBNL. Barely thread worthy but, ok.
  25. Maybe true but to have this team and not go out and get a number one or two starting pitcher to solidify the rotation, and to not get a late innings relief guy to replace Lowe and Hendriks is just a flat out failure. There may be plenty of off season left but the big ticket players are coming off the board and we're back to scraping the bottom of the barrel for bargains again like it's 2011. You can always trade them away for other assets when it no longer makes sense to keep them. Maybe it's not Shapiro and his Cleveland team, maybe it's Rogers hamstringing them and that's fair enough...but as a fan it's frustrating knowing we're right on the cusp of something really special, and it's like we have to win in spite of ownership and management, not because of them.
