  1. That swing looks so much like Ohtani’s.
  2. Varland has yet to give up an earned run, I have full confidence he will strike out at least one batter he faces per inning, handles pressure situations and is consistent. Hoffman gets up in the bullpen and I have 4 inches of couch fabric clenched up my ass. Give Varland a chance at closing. If it works it solves a major weakness without having to make any sort of transaction and he’s under team control for a good while. really see no downside.
  3. Okamoto wins rookie of the year and almost entirely replaces Bo's WAR. Nathan Lukes hits over .300 with a .400+ OBP, taking over leadoff duties for Springer
  4. I tried to tell you all I was funny, but no one believed me
  5. I would love Max around the team just for the impact he has on Yesavage and the whole dugout. If he has to pitch once in a while to make that happen then sure, throw him in for mop up duty lol. But way more interested in what he brings to the culture than the field at this point of his career.
  6. I used to love listening to him get drunker and drunker as games went on when he was doing play by play lol. Some games he was legit slurring his speech by the 6th inning and I was dying. I liked him a lot better on color, but I did find him a bit irritating. Still, dude is a legend and will be missed. Just don't know who will take over and I pray to all the gods it isn't Pat Tabler. Know who was AWESOME for the short time he did color for the Jays? Darren Fletcher
  7. I really don’t know how some people on this forum have managed to not get banned for as long as they have lol
  8. I don’t think he’s Boras client is he? Just looked it up and all I can find is that he’s represented by ISE. But I agree, I’m sure he’s gonna want term. 5 years or something with a team option for a sixth would be good if he’d do it. I would definitely try to front load it though if possible.
  9. Lol. Their numbers are actually shockingly similar now that I deep dived on it.
  10. Yeah for a CF I doubt we can do much better. Wonder what kind of salary he’s gonna want though with such a weak market next year. He’s got a lot of leverage.
  11. Yeah those prospects are pretty average MLBers if everything goes their way, imo. Definitely a huge area of concern beyond this year, especially with really no major OF free agents next year either. Atkins almost HAS to acquire someone by the deadline at the latest. But I guess a lot depends on Santander/Springer's health this year too. I really don't want to watch Santander play in the field more than he has to though.
  12. True, but we have Popkins so I'm sure they'd be able to make adjustments that might make him more consistent. I think he would be a moderate upgrade over Lukes, not that I don't like Lukes. But yeah it would be nice to aim a bit higher. Just looking at players who might conceivably be available in a trade and he seems to fit better than most.
  13. That would be interesting. I don't think he can really hit lefties though, can he? So it would have to be more of a platoon situation...would be REALLY nice to have his speed though. That's one thing I feel we're lacking...no one that can just change a game completely by running out a weak ground ball into a single, and then stealing two bases lol. Someone like a Chandler Simpson or Crow-Armstrong. There aren't many of them out there and doubt anyone like that is even available but Cruz would definitely be close to that, I like him.
  14. After this season who do we have in our OF? SS we have Gimenez, Ernie. 2B those guys plus Schneider. 3B Okamoto, Clement, Barger, Vladdy if needed. 1B Okamoto, Vladdy, I'm sure Ernie if needed. Plus we have guys in the minors that could come up in the event of an emergency. OF we have Varsho who could be gone next year, Santander who belongs at DH but can play RF or LF I guess, but really would suck. RF/3B Barger. LF we have Lukes, Schneider. Straw I guess as backup. Seems to me like OF is where we need some more depth, not just for this year but moving forward. Especially if Santander sucks again or can't stay healthy again. To me Kwan is the perfect guy for what we need. Doesn't strike out, makes solid contact, A+ defence, can run, and is controllable for a few more years. Doubt Cleveland will trade him though unless they're out of it so might be a moot point...but to me he solves a lot of problems. He'd also be a great leadoff hitter once Springer is gone.
  15. This had me rolling Bo throwing from third
  16. Remember when Whit got traded here and he wasn’t gonna come because he was refusing his Covid shot or something? Lol. Guy looked like he thought was so above being a Blue Jay, doesn’t surprise me to hear him making comments like this.
  17. Like I’ve been saying for years and years now, Bo was never ever coming back. I might be the only one but I’m so happy he’s gone, guy has rubbed me the wrong way for a long time. Going back to those comments he made in San Francisco it became even more obvious. He didn’t want to be here at all, no matter what he said in front of the cameras. He’s been busting to get out of here and I’m sure was making unreasonable asks for any potential extension from Atkins since Vladdy signed. Everyone is raving about how he “played on one leg” in the World Series. Yeah, of course he did. It was the greatest showcase possible for him going into free agency. Now let’s see how “gRiTtY” he is after he’s got his bag. Maybe I just see the worst in people but my god this guy was pretty obvious wasn’t he?
  18. Both press conferences today were pretty funny. “What made you want to sign here?” Both Bo and Tucker tried to be convincing when saying anything but “these fools paid me double what I’m worth, how could I say no?” Can’t wait to watch Bo attempt to play 3B. He’s gonna have to use the pitcher as the cut off man.
  19. Well Robert to the Mets means they’ve gotta be out on Bellinger. Starting to worry we’re getting him.
  20. To be fair, Giminez was injured for a good chunk of the second half of the year, and it was a bad year for him in general relative to the rest of his career. But he's there for his glove anyway, not really his bat. I think we are gonna roll with him for years tbh.
  21. Acuna isn't a free agent until 2029 (he has two club options at a comically low salary compared to what he'd get on the open market). And this would be akin to the Jays trading Vladdy. It just won't happen.
  22. I don't think I could look at that man for 2 years with his soccer mom hair cut, earrings and traced on beard. But also, we have Okamoto, Clement, Schneider, Vladdy, Barger who can all play 3B so he would be a bit redundant. At this point it's Outfielder or bust imo. Major hole there, possibly two major holes there, after this season.
  23. Bo was never coming back, I knew he was gone years ago the first chance he got.
  24. Think it plays better at DH tbh
