  1. You keep trying to frame this as some teachable moment about how front offices operate, but you still haven’t addressed the actual point. I never suggested the FO ‘waits for certainty.’ I pointed out that checking in on Ketel Marte, a high-value, controlled infielder, signals preparation for a specific roster outcome involving Bichette. That’s not radical, it’s just reading the landscape instead of reciting generic business cliches. The irony is you accused me of not understanding the basics while completely sidestepping the baseball logic because you were more invested in performing authority than actually discussing anything. If you need to posture to feel like the smartest guy in the room, fine, but don’t mistake that for winning an argument. When you’re ready to talk baseball instead of talking down to people, let me know.
  2. Wasn’t pointing at you specifically, but a bunch of the usuals pile on with their crap enough times that I fully expect every single post to result in a stupid argument. All I said was if they’re trying to acquire another infielder it likely means they don’t think they’re signing Bo. Really don’t understand why these holier than thou goofs that think they’re Bill James and know more than the average fan, have to pile on. I wouldn’t call it bullying but I would call it being a dick.
  3. hAvE you CoNsIdErEd mAkInG bEtTeR pOsTs stfu, literally posted a TSN article and an opinion that makes complete sense and the usual suspects are gatekeeping with their bAsEbALl kNoWlEdGe. why tf would the team allocate money to an infielder unless Bo was leaving when our infield is already completely filled and we need pitching more than anything else? They wouldn’t. But let’s all rip anyone with an opinion, it’s not like this is a message board meant for them or anything.
  4. Man you guys are *******s, you can't say anything around here without some pretentious twat responding. Makes you not want to even post.
  5. I mean, we have Jimenez, we have Ernie. We have Barger. The only scenario where Marte makes sense at all is if Bo doesn’t resign. Feels like this would be something they check in on after Bo leaves.
  6. Report: Blue Jays have ‘checked in’ on All-Star 2B Marte https://www.tsn.ca/mlb/article/report-blue-jays-have-checked-in-on-all-star-2b-marte/ I don't see why they would do this unless they think Bo is gone.
  7. ERA, WHIP, walk rate, secondary pitches, not important. Got it.
  8. 4.55 ERA, 1.1 WAR, walks a lot of batters (3.8 per 9 innings), curveball got hammered this season, beyond his slider his secondary pitches are completely unreliable, and he's spent the last two seasons pitching in a very pitcher friendly division. Wouldn't be my first choice. Wouldn't be the worst choice, but definitely not my first. And also, we have no lefty starters. Those are nice to have strategically in the post season. But, this isn't a hill I'm going to die on so it is what it is.
  9. Hmm strong case. My only counter argument would be fly ball pitchers tend not to do well in the AL, especially the East. A lot harder to do big damage against ground ball pitchers, especially with our defence. But, eh I guess we’ll find out if they sign him.
  10. Cease is really not that good. His last really good season was in 2022. Maybe Walker fixes him but I’d much rather a proven stud (ideally lefty also). Wouldn’t be mad about it but I don’t think he’s the guy we want as a first choice.
  11. Care to elaborate?
  12. Cease hasn’t really been that good the past couple of seasons, I wouldn’t be too excited about him. In fact he’d probably be the number 4 guy in the playoffs assuming Yesavage doesn’t Ricky Romero/Alex Manoah us. I would much rather get a lefty, either via FA or trade. If not Skubal then Suarez or somebody. Ideally someone that moves everyone down a slot, Gausman becomes the number 2…because he might not be around past 2026, we are going to need a guaranteed ace to carry the rotation with clarity moving forward.
  13. 2027 is potentially a lock out year and who knows what changes get made to the CBA…he might want to lock into something long term beforehand. That’s what I’m telling myself anyway. 😂
  14. I mean the deal would have to be contingent on him signing, or a sign and trade. But, even at 1 year…that’s a pretty sweet rotation and maybe he falls in love with Toronto like everyone else has.
  15. Skubal or Ryan seem like pipe dreams but man...with one of those guys, this rotation is absolutely nasty to face in the playoffs. Imagine game 1 - Skubal, Game 2 - Gausman, Game 3 - Bieber, Game 4 - Yesavage. For them to get one of those guys likely means bye bye Tiedemann or Nimmala (or both). But with Nimmala, if we actually do resign Bo you know it's 7-8 years minimum, plus Gimenez for the next 4 at least, and we have Ernie. Is there even a spot for Nimmala on this team in the next half decade? And I would trade Tiedemann who could be great, or could not work out, for a proven ace. Just thinking out loud playing arm chair GM for a second. It all hinges on Bo signing. If he does, the flexibility is there especially with Gausman potentially coming off the books next year, that Nimmala and/or JoJo are expendable. If they are, do the Jays go after Skubal? And if they do, Berrios becomes obsolete and maybe he goes to Detroit in the same package. Then the Jays have the cash to sign Skubal long term. Probability is extremely low but man that's fun to dream on.
  16. Wow that’s amazing. Great sign that these guys wanna be here.
  17. Feels that way now but why not? The Dodgers just won back to back. The Yankees and Red Sox took turns dominating throughout the 2000s and early 2010s...something tells me with all the revenue this team just generated Rogers will want it to keep going. Players should want to come here after a season like that. No reason we can't keep it going.
  18. Whole lot of coulda woulda shoulda on this thread. I get the disappointment, I’m crushed. But hindsight is 20/20. If Varsho just did his job, if Clement just hit that ball 6” higher, if the ball didn’t get lodged, etc…fact is we left way too many RISP, you have to give it up for Yamamoto who is a cheat code, and make improvements to the bullpen (get a true lights out closer), grab another starter, maybe resign Bo but I doubt it…small improvements are all this team needs. We could be back next season in the same spot. Yeah a lot would have to go right but with the way these guys play together, no reason to doubt them. Plus the Yankees aren’t getting any younger and what are the chances Cal Raleigh is this good next year too? There’s bound to be regression. For us too, probably. A lot had to go right and it did, but next year we have a budding star all season (Barger), Clement who I think is going to have a career year after that playoff performance…he has carved out a real solid place for himself finally. Yesavage…I dunno, I hope he’s as good as he looked but I expect some struggles next year. anyway now I’m rambling but point is, we did it once, we can do it again. We haven’t won the World Series the past 32 years either and we all lived. The fact they got within two outs, and then one swing of winning it this year is ultimately an amazing achievement. Once this scabs over I think more people will appreciate it.
  19. I pre-depressed myself and accepted that we lost before the game even started. Then it doesn't sting as much.
  20. The bright side is, this team was good even without Bichette. We took the Dodgers to 7 games. They only lost 1 game for the entire rest of the playoffs. The areas that need improving are mainly a real closer, and likely a starter. You have to think Bichette is gonna want to stay and finish the job, but even if he doesn't, the emergence of Barger and Clement will help off set the loss and there's nowhere to go but up as far as defence if he leaves. Maybe we're a team players want to sign with now. A few tweaks here and there and this team is solid for 5+ years. Most of these guys are under team control for a while.
  21. Just knew the season would come down to Hoffman, and he would do this. Ugh. Great year, this is going to sting for a long time though.
  22. Sure would be nice to be up 3-2 going home with 2 chances to win. Feels like must win tonight with Yamamoto going on Friday as well.
  23. I think that was a choice they made in spring training, for the sake of his durability. Dude is getting banged up just DHing, imagine him in the field too.
