  1. I don't know, I could be wrong, but this seems to be a natural fit. If I had a company that produced sporting equipment, I would want some professional athletes that used that equipment,on my board. I mean and of all the players in baseball, it seems logical to have someone who's nickname is "Joey Bats" on a bat companies board of directors!
  2. Cool article, I was very interested in Alford, but unsure of what the story was. I don't know in this day and age, if we will ever see a true two-sport star. This is in the news again with Jameis Winston admitting he would still love to play baseball someday.
  3. Santana's contract includes some incentives. I don't know how much, but I would guess it could put the two contracts in the 6 plus million range if both are on the roster. Though if that's the case, I hope its both are somehow contributing to a winning team.
  4. I would think he has a desire to win a World Series. I would also think he would like to reach 150 wins (he has 139) and 2000 strikeouts (he has 1988).
  5. So I called into Jays talk last June and told Wilner to keep an eye on Pompey. He said that, he thought he might not be here after the trade deadline. Well I'm certainly glad he is. Pretty stoked to have three Canadians in our starting lineup. Castro will be in our bullpen at some point this year.
  6. I see a situation where this is a prelude to trading Navarro. Navarro gets moved, Viciedo if he hits half decent DH's and doesn't become a defensive liability.
  7. I won't touch the Saunders statement, since he is currently just been put on the DL. However, I think he has a good year. Plays in 100-120 games hits 15-18 Hr's and has 10-12 SB's with a .280 BA and .760-.780 OPS. I think Pillar gets in 60 games this year and we win 40-45 of those games. For some reason I feel like we win when he plays. I could be very wrong on that. LOL. I think Devon Travis is in the top ten in the International League and contributes to a playoff run after the All Star break. I think Gose plays All Star defense, but still struggles with the bat. At least for this year again. I'd like to see him turn it around though.
  8. Does Galactus switch hit? And which worlds does he devour? If he devours uninhabited worlds, I feel like our resources would be better spent drafting up and coming young world devourer prospects. Preferably ones who devour inhabited worlds. It does no good to devour worlds without a population to destroy!
  9. So the problem with cartilage is that we have yet to find any type of synthetic bio-material that replicates its properties. It has the ability to change how porous its membrane is depending on whether its being loaded on or not. When you put weight on it, it keeps synovial fluid in. When the load is taken off it, it allows synovial fluid to move out of the cartilage and lubricate the joint as it moves. Long story short, menisectomy's are what was almost always done in the past, and still the most common, because it is very difficult to repair cartilage. There is nothing that works like the original. You can get away without it, however, long term its like driving a car without a proper shock absorber, eventually other parts (knee ligaments, hip joint, articular surface of joint injured) break down. Six weeks should be the recovery. I'm not a doctor, but I do have a BioEng degree from Guelph. I actually did my 41x design project developing a machine that shears cartilage plugs. The point is to read the shear forces exerted in the cartilage to help get more information for creating synthetic cartilage. Lol, unfortunately mother nature and evolution seems to have the monopoly on cartilage. You never know though what will be developed in the future.
  10. It sounds like Saunders has the same time table D-Rose. No Viciedo, Saunders could be back by end of April.
  11. I would guess that the Dodgers are most interested if he can't sign until July 2. Let's be honest all teams are interested, but not all teams can afford. I'm sure they would love to have all teams able to bid for his services.
  12. I always had a saying that you can't even understand what someone has experienced by walking a mile in their shoes...Because in all honesty their shoes probably don't fit you. This world is full of judgmental people unfortunately. There is no such thing as black and white, just about 5000 shades of gray.
  13. Actually highly intelligent people tend to use cocaine as well. Stimulants work well and is what is used by Doctors to treat ADD and ADHD. Many people use to "self-medicate".
  14. It also helped him I think in Texas having Ron Washington as his coach. Washington had his own issues with cocaine so was probably much easier to relate to and was a good support net for Hamilton.
  15. No you need to be happy by looking on the bright side! Everyone is going to get better looking as your eyes get worse. This will include your own reflection in the mirror. You're pretty much a couple cataracts away from being Brad Pitt. And not the "I'm trying to make myself less attractive Brad Pitt". The Vibrant "True Romance" stoner on the couch Brad Pitt. My eyes are perfect...and I'm ugly as f***!
  16. f*** now I think its Wade again. Damn you Angrioter! There are so many better things I could be doing with my day.
  17. Josh Hamilton | ANA (February 27, 2015 8:42 AM EST) FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi report that Josh Hamilton "is likely to be suspended for at least 25 games but less than a full season." The report says that commissioner Rob Manfred is "not close to a decision" due to "various complexities" in Hamilton's case. While Hamilton's relapse this offseason is not considered his first major league violation (he was on the Rays' 40-man roster from February 18, 2004 through June 1, 2006), MLB is considering "showing compassion" for the outfielder because they "have a favorable view of (his) efforts to remain sober." Hamilton was already due to get a late start to the season because of shoulder surgery. SOURCE: FOXSPORTS.COM I really feel like Rob Manfred is going to be good for baseball. This seems very in tune with how we as a society need to handle substance abuse as a whole. The best way to make sure a relapse does not ruin all that's been accomplished is to be able to be honest and deal with it. MLB has a chance to show they are progressive and really trying to deal with this issue. You lie and cheat and get caught, the hammer comes down. You make a mistake, and own up to it, you are punished but your honesty and willingness to deal with your mistake is taken into account.
  18. s*** on first glance I really thought it was Wade. But with the chance of being labelled as "Stupid White Man", I think its Derrick Rose.
  19. Bust: SantosLHarper21 anybody who can play professional baseball is better than 99 percent of people who have played baseball Breakout: Jairo Labourt, Matt Smoral, Richard Urena, Miguel Castro, Jeff Hoffman, Max Pentecost, Dwight Smith Jr. Sleeper: Greyson Huffman, Lane Thomas, Angel Perdomo Deep Sleeper: Ryan McBroom, Juan Meza, Dan Jansen, Nick Wells Bounce Back: Roberto Osuna, Alberto Tirado, AJ Jimenez
  20. Come to think of it, I have never seen him rebound. I guess that's because I have never watched a Raptors practice.
  21. *** Breaking news *** It has been discovered, what the hole found near the Rexall Centre, in the GTA,in January was. It turns out it was a direct portal,to the Jays Dunedin Spring training complex, created by die-hard Jays fans. Unfortunately, earlier this week, Michael Saunders tripped over the hidden exit, losing the first half of his season with the club. Sorry I couldn't resist. Just trying to make everyone smile for a second. Its unfortunate Saunders got hurt, but hopefully it gives Pillar and Carrera and Dickerson or Dirks the opportunity to play well.
  22. Can Stiesma play outfield? At the very least he could pull a few back over the fence.
  23. I would think Santana could take a lot from tapping into Buehrle's game plan. Its really a nothing to lose scenario.
  24. I don't think there is any chance this happens. Maybe at the deadline, but still very unlikely.
  25. Josh Hamilton | ANA (February 25, 2015 8:02 PM EST) A source tells Jon Heyman of CBS Sports that Josh Hamilton relapsed a few months back involving "at least cocaine." Heyman says Hamilton turned himself in and that, if true, he would be put in a drug program as a first-time offender. Without a positive test, it's unclear how MLB could suspend Hamilton for the incident. Reports were that the 33-year-old had a meeting with MLB Wednesday to discuss what happened. More should be known shortly. SOURCE: JON HEYMAN ON TWITTER I just hope for his sake he continues to win his battle against his addiction. Its a very good sign, he owned up to it and is dealing with it. That makes it much more likely to keep it an isolated incident.
