  1. Someone must have a stat on the average time of a game....my proverbial gut says it's longer than 3 hours. The average playoff game must be 4+ which drives me insane. We have to start those games past 8:00 for TV ratings and then I have to say up wayyy to late to actually see the end of the bloody game. Insane....drives me insane. Insane in the membrane. I get that playoffs are all about the commercials and that's big revenue, but I hate it to death.
  2. Cherry picking alert! Weeks has 1 125 wRC+ season in his past 3 and it was last year when he was basically platooned. He's also had 85 wRC+ and a 97 wRC+ seasons in the past 3. Oh ya - he's also a head case. We're clearly at the point where we're picking the best of the worst.
  3. My suggestions: 1. Automatic intentional walk...catcher just tells the ump and the batter goes to first. 2. Enforce the rules on stepping out of the box and on the time between pitches. Make it a priority. 3. Reduce the number of warm up pitches for RPs. 4. Limit the number of visits to the mound by the catcher, coaches and managers. All theses things will help speed up the game without changing the roots and history go the game. Baseball is the game without a clock and we love that, but everyone enjoys a faster game and changes will be need to help offset the inevitable delays that video reviews will soon cause. Don't ever restrict strategy in our game. Don't take away shifts, don't make Pitchers face more than one batter?...
  4. His fastball was sub 80 mph last year. How does he do it?
  5. Nice - I'm glad I found this place - it's solid. Any other regulars end up here?
  6. Yeah I know - just fun with numbers. I'd welcome him here on a 1 year deal with a club option
  7. -0.6 WAR last year for K-Rod....ouch!
  8. TDottttt205 - from the old ESPN blue jays message board right? What's up man from wsox_fan75! nice to see a familiar face on here. I know personally I wasn't giving Hutch enough credit...
  9. Ya? Kind of hope you're right.
  10. For all he'll be needed, Caleb Joseph will be fine in that role. At least he knows how to frame a pitch.
  11. I will literally denounce my allegiance to the Jays if they deal Hoffman - or anyone significant to get DD, who has absolutely no experience in the role. This story is completely out of hand.
  12. Jeff Blair is a utter buffoon. I'm OK with moving Navarro - but why would Baltimore want him?
  13. That crossfire motion interests (and worries) me more than his beard, cooking habits and musical tastes. Does anyone have anymore info on it? Was it perhaps the root of his control problems prior to last year? Have the Jays worked to eliminate it?
  14. Would be interesting to know who much Houston values him. Their offseason signings kind of suggest they don't have any faith in him as a late inning reliever. Surely to god they aren't fooled by his mid 4 ERA? Maybe they are just trying to mimic the Royals...
  15. Anyone think we could pry Josh Fields away from Houston? 11.5 K/9, 2.8 BB/9, 3.15 xFIP, 2.09 FIP last year. He was aided by an unsustainably low HR/FB and I'd rather him generate more GB's, but there's a lot to like here. What would it take?
  16. Do you guys think the Jays were taking Giolito in that draft he the Nats didn't? I meant to ask Tinnish that last I spoke with him, but forgot.
  17. That obviously wasn't Norris's best curve ball. I never noticed it before, but in the AAA .gifs above, you can see Norris lands on the first base side quite a bit, causing him to throw across his body. This is something they really tried to correct on Hutch...just an observation. Stop surfin', start fixing that man!
  18. Given our obvious need at 2nd base, I'm not sure how anyone can't be at least happy with the deal for Travis
  19. I love how quiet and repeatable his motion is...he certainly passes the eye test...I expect him to have a major impact this coming season
  20. I think this is spot on. Another point to add is that Dickey had been gaining velocity on his knuckleball year after year and with increased velocity came more strikeouts and better success. I agree the Jays took the risk that they had something very unique and very special on their hands. Given their financial situation, he really was the perfect storm opportunity. Unfortunately, the velocity dipped 2 MPH in 2013 and he hasn't been the ace they'd hoped for. However, he'd been a very good #3 pitcher at a reasonable cost. Syndergaard and TDA have been absolutely nothing to date - so even though Dickey hasn't turned out as well as AA thought he might, the deal still hasn't been a disaster. I don't blame AA for taking the risk, just like I don't blame him for taking a risk on Morrow, Santos, Gose, Delabar or Lawrie.
  21. Lind married the girl from The Mindy Project? Who knew.
  22. Clutch stats...that's funny
  23. I agree it's not the only way to judge a talent, but he's so far ahead of Happ there's really nothing else to debate. Btw, you haven't really explained why you don't like him or why you like Happ more. Repeating you just do doesn't really make for a riveting message board debate either.
  24. Buehrle needs the calls on the corners...Martin is the best bet to maximize those. That's my reasoning.
