    I agree with this. I find it odd that so many people jump all over the Marlins deal. Hech has put up 0.0 WAR over 2.5 season with the Marlins Alvarez: 4.1 WAR DeSclafani: 1.5 WAR Escobar: 5.1 WAR Marisnick: 1.0 WAR and no longer much of a prospect Nicolino: 0.0 WAR and no longer much of a prospect Meanwhile, Buehrle has put up 6.8 WAR and Reyes another 7.0 WAR. I don't think many if any were sad to see Escobar go, yet he's the best of the bunch so far and I know very few though highly of DeSclafani. I get that Buehrle and Reyes cost a lot - but they've been wayyyy better than the package AA gave up and let's be honest, with the ORGANIZATIONAL restriction on length of FA contracts (which does hamper AA's ability) - it's hard to get FA's to sign here when all you have is Jose/Edwin and a bunch of prospects.

    Right - the GM has total control over injuries (Stroman, Saunders, Reyes, Lawrie, Bautista, Santos, Morrow, Sanchez, etc.) as well as which players under and over perform. TOTAL CONTROL. There is absolutely no chance in the game of baseball - the GM is the only person who control's which teams win and which teams lose. FYSMC.

    I didn't expect you to get it - but that point is, no matter what moves he makes, there are a TON of things that are simply out of his control. Just like a pitcher. I should just put you back on ignore.

    I highly suspect they'd keep DeGrom over Syndergaard. DeGrom is a beast already. He's what Synder aspires to be.

    While I don't like how Wilner defends Jays player to no end - I do love that he tells fans when they are stupid....which is about 85% of his audience. I'm not sure I'd ever listened to a show that would be so blunt (and typically right) when people phone in with blabbering nonsense.

    Actually - the thought is Shark isn't going to be enough to make this team a playoff team (let alone a WS contender) and thus why deal a young pitcher for a 2 month rental (even if it's Sanchez). Shark is NOT a #1. He's better than what we have, but he's not a difference maker that Cueto/Hamels are.

    That's a really good explanation - thanks man. I'm really gratefully to have found this forum. I wonder if we'll ever see a day where a manager purposely matches up a fly ball pitcher vs. a fly ball hitter (say Chris Carter) out of the bullpen

    Sorry I asked in the wrong thread. Is it the same for hitters? LD% isn't talent-based, just luck? that seems nuts.

    I asked this before, but nobody answered (wtf). You're saying LD% isn't talent-based because it doesn't correlate year-to-year and is subjective. It would certainly seem as though GB% and FB% are talent-based (fly ball and groundball pitchers) and those numbers do tend to correlate year-to-year....Does LD% simply get the shaft because it's more subjective than the other 2?

    You guys are smarter than me. You're saying a pitcher has no control over what LD% he allows? It certainly appears some pitchers have control over their GB% and FB% (ie, groundball and fly ball pitcher) - why is it they can control that, but not LD%? Learn me wise ones.

    Unfortunately, this is true. The vast majority of the public is stupid and thus doesn't realise the SN guys are dum dums. The people who really follow baseball simply can't listen to pre-game shows or whatever these days because it makes you want to puke.

    I would fully support this. I have loved watching E5 over the years, but he's a logical guy to move now.
