  1. (after randomly looking at the Padres stats on Fangraphs) - holy lord the Padres suck. You know you suck when Melvin Upton, ex. Blue Jay cast off Brett Wallace AND pitcher Tyson Ross all have higher WARs than Matt Kemp, Wil Myers, Gyroko and Will Middlebrooks. #tuurrrrrribleoffseason
  2. Pat Murphy must have Gyroko in a dynasty league....trying to increase his value by making him SS eligible. That's honestly the only logical explanation.
  3. Those 2 are an embarrassment to the profession and to Rogers in general. I may consider selling my shares in Rogers based on the fact they employ Blair and Barker.
  4. But would it kill them to introduce it a bit? Instead of saying "Hutchison knows how to win games, which explains why he's 11-2 despite a high ERA", could they not say something like "the advanced stats indicate Hutchison has been just as effective as he was last year, but has been hurt by an uncharacteristically high BABIP and low LOB%. He's had some bad luck this year and hopefully this means he'd due for some good luck moving forward". I guess they've done the studies that suggest the casual fan wants to keep it basic....although I have a sneaking suspicion that Buck doesn't have to try very hard to dumb it down...
  5. Do we really need a debate on this? He's awful. We should have a thread dedicated to laughing at all the stupid and incorrect things he says. I'm not sure on this (maybe others could confirm/deny), but I have to think he's told cater the dialog to suit the casual fan (ie, dumb it down). There's literally no way he could be so oblivious, when it's his job to know the game of baseball...right?
  6. I've been in a hole I guess....Machado actually tried to throw the bat and hit Donaldson at 3rd? what a douche.
  7. I guess you could say I'm like Delabar then as I have no control, long balls and my wife does get hurt by the donger from time to time
  8. Shouldn't there be as much concern regarding Dickey as there is for Hutch/Estrada?
  9. Did Delabar and Norris really need to be told what they needed to work on? Sounds like Delabar needs someone to stroke his ego a lot.
  10. The Jays would have to offer him like 1 year $50M - and even at that, I doubt he'd consider it.
  11. Is an article really necessary? Maybe they should write an article about how Trout's a good player too...
  12. My thoughts exactly. What kind of a world is this where I can't use a theory (which common sense would generally support) to make a point? Damn all these stats and evidence.
  13. Signing 30 year old guys who rely primarily on their speed (Reyes) never seems to work out. That said - it was very hard to argue with Bourns results the previous 3 years. As a minimum, you wouldn't expect such a sharp drop off (more like Reyes' decline I guess).
  14. Doesn't it all come down to the fact that Toronto isn't a place where free agents want to sign? We've basically had to trade for every elite player we have because even if we want to spend money, nobody will take it. Here's hoping that winning changes that...Buehrle needs to fly our flag all over the place too haha
  15. reading and/or comprehension isn't you're strong suit eh? Toronto and Cleveland are not desirable locations for free agents. See what Buehrle just said about TO. Toronto and Cleveland both have very strong fan bases. This shouldn't be so difficult.
  16. There is some truth to this, but you also have to give AA credit for exposing the system to benefit the Jays.
  17. It's actually a very similar market to Toronto from a fanbase / FA destination perspective.
  18. Is he related to Todd Shapiro?
  19. More importantly, castoff Cervelli is better than Martin.
  20. Step away from the hot tub time machine man - nothing wrong with Tulo at leadoff. An "RBI guy" haha.
  21. I also find it ironic that Cervelli is better than Russell Martin now....Pittsburgh has really become the place where you go to revive your career (or breakout).
  22. Brantley is awesome - although I'm surprised to see his defense is below average.
  23. Great defense too...
  24. Good lord. You said you don't want him leading off.....my point is the "lead off" position is poorly named as the teams' first batter is only guaranteed to "lead off" one inning a game, which is no big deal. People should view the 1st hitter in the lineup as one of your better hitters who you want getting more at bats than you're s***** hitters (ie, Revere). You shouldn't be concerned (to the point you say you don't want him there) with Tulo hitting 1st in the Jays lineup. That's the point. I'm done.
