  1. Are you serious you wouldn't deal Travis to get Syndergaard? Travis projects to be average 2nd baseman at best. Remember we got him for Gose man.
  2. Because we're in Canada. Also - take a good look at the results of the "big" FA signings over the past 5-6 years. It's not pretty.
  3. If Travis could be the centerpiece for Samardzija I could live with that. I don't think the Travis we saw to start this season is anywhere close to the player he'll ultimately be (I'm referring the power outburst). I'd sell high if I could.
  4. Thanks Captain Obvious - you can take the rest of the day off now...
  5. He was also very cheap at the time ($5M if I recall correctly). They got the best starter available who: 1. fit within the budget 2. was under control for 3 years; and 3. who was available via trade they overpaid because RAD fit these requirements perfectly. It didn't work out. Move on.
  6. Yeah I think that's a load of s*** too. Same as I think you have to shoot a certain score to professionally teach people how to golf. So stupid.
  7. I wouldn't extend him right now. I suspect an extension would be something like 2 years, $12M - $14M (Carlos V got 2 yr - $10M from Cubs); but lets be honest, he hasn't been able to "stick" in the rotation during his career and at 31, it's doubtful that will change (he's just on a hot streak). At $6-7M/year - he has to be in your rotation to give you value because he'd have to be a shut down setup man to give value at $6M/year in the pen. He's a useful, versatile pitcher - he's just not someone you want to sink a lot of $ into.
  8. Is that article written by a 13 year old girl? The term 'star' is relative to you own perspective, but I highly doubt "someone you can pencil in behind A.J. Griffin" would EVER be considered a 'star'.
  9. Trading for Kennedy based on his peripherals would be similar to last year when the Yanks dealt for Brandon McCarthy (which worked out great for NYY). In general, I like the ideal. My concern is Kennedy's a flyball pitcher who's best suited in a big ballpark (like Petco). I'd be OK with them adding Kennedy at a reasonable price - provided that's not the only move we make...
  10. Such a disappointment all around. Great god given talent. At the very least, you thought you'd get a GG defense in CF and a terror on the base paths - even if he never hit much. It's amazing we got Travis for this guy.
  11. shocking to see him with a negative on defense...
  12. well that escalated quickly...
  13. 2 fantastic posts...
  14. I get the point - Dave Stewart is a moron, but seriously, what did LA inject Turner with? This guy was a complete nobody in the minors & majors before landing in LA, now he's a beast.
  15. Grandel: 1.8 WAR Kemp: -0.5 WAR Awesome.
  16. I was referring to their WAR over a full season. I suppose for accuracy, I should have said "Why acquire a 2.25 WAR starter, when you could get a 0.843 WAR reliever instead?"
  17. If Sanchez is our #2 - we might as well shut up shop and go home.
  18. Clippard's been off all year...I'd be wary.
  19. Why add a 4 WAR starter when you can add a 1.5 WAR right?
  20. I hope Jose didn't re-injure his arm on that throw home....he let is hang loose....for now reason
  21. Ruben Amero Jr is going to make AA pay large for pap...
  22. #umpshow Btw, I f***ing hate Adam Jones. I hope they throw at his face next game....and connect
  23. Framing or no framing..the ump is awful at his job
