  1. Christ - all I'm saying is good GM's don't make moves solely to 'save their job'. I don't think you'll see AA gut the farm system 'because if he doesn't win this year, he'll lose his job'. That's all I'm saying. I also think teams chasing a 1 game playoff, trading for top rentals is a bad idea because it's always an overpay.
  2. The point remains that good GM's done make stupid trades to try and save their jobs because it hurts their resume for future job opportunities.
  3. Good GM's don't give a s*** about what the fan base thinks. Not all fans are despaired.
  4. Agreed. People say he should be a 4/5....not many teams have 3 WAR 4th/5th starters.
  5. This is exactly it. This is the A's adding Lester last year. They think they are the best and they are 'going for it'. I'd support AA if he made this move while in the Royals position. I wouldn't support him if he made it in our current position.
  6. Every local media pump the local owners. Never noticed that? what do you expect?
  7. Like you think he'd start on another team? yur dum
  8. The decisions AA makes now set up his resume for his next GM job. If I'm looking to hire a GM and I see at this last job he was irresponsible, selling top prospects to make a hail mary attempt at the playoffs - I don't want that guy anywhere near my team. Luckily - I actually don't think AA will make moves just to 'save his job'. Bad GM's do that.
  9. What does ftfy mean? Cleaning out the farm is dealing Norris or Hoffman, Pompey or Alford and Castro
  10. The thought of facing the gauntlet of Oattes, Magnus and Ivany from the Nepean Brewers must have scared Aumont away from the NCBL.
  11. I imagine no pitcher in baseball still is in contact with the rubber when they release the ball...
  12. Notice how he holds his glove hand "out" and lets his body come to it? He must have been watching Tom House pitching drills videos on Youtube Looks like he missed Tom's recommendations for the push off - found a triple jump video for that I guess.
  13. It's hard to find defensive wizards Ang.
  14. Perfect - Dickey, Thole, Navarro and Goins They never said they wanted good players.
  15. It is if you have an unlimited budget
  16. Man - I'm not sure anyone else in baseball passes the "eye" test like Cashner. The man looks dominate every time I see him. He's a major injury risk though.
  17. I heard 2 jays AA prospects were just scratched.
  18. That's very respectable.
  19. The day the GM worries about fan momentum is the day I would fire him.
  20. Theo didn't draft or sign Russell - he traded for him.....but ya, still impressive.
  21. I think the point is that in general - players that light up the minors become good ML players. Players who suck in the minors, typically don't become good ML players. Obviously there are outliners, but it's fair to discuss players based on generalities isn't it? If a guy can't strike out many in A or AA - and most minor leaguers who can't strike out guys in A and AA fail in the majors - then it's fair to raise that as a concern.
  22. I think it's called playing the percentages. There aren't many pitcher who have a 5.9 K/9 rate in AA that become big time major league pitchers. Sure it happens from time to time - but not often.
  23. Did Buck just say Sanchez is a strike throwing machine in the majors? Wtf man.
  24. I didn't know most of those details. They are awesome - yet questionable all at the same time.
  25. Done deal HD.
