  1. The big guy is playing like a franchise superstar tonight...let's end this.
  2. I don't understand MLB. Why is the catcher allowed to block the plate (once they receive the ball), but the player can't run the catcher? It's either you can't block and the plate and you can't run the catcher (which IMO, is the correct answer), or you can block the plate and you can run the catcher. Those are the only 2 logical options. If a catcher wearing all that protective gear is allowed to block the plate, you should be allowed to come in hot - shoulders, cleats to the face - all fair game for the guy who is trying to score without any padding.
  3. Expecting a rational thought from his isn't wise. Big blow for the Jays. Hopefully Loperfido can regain the success BABIP luck he had before his demotion, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Hoping this results in more regular at bats for Davis Schneider and not IKF.
  4. This isn't good at all... Blue Jays placed SS Bo Bichette on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to Sept. 7, with a sprained left knee. Bichette was able to resume playing Saturday after hurting his leg sliding into catcher Austin Wells in the game against the Yankees, but he sat out Sunday. The word then was that it was his shin, which sustained a cut, that was the problem, but it turns out that wasn’t the whole truth. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will likely play pretty regularly while Bichette is out.
  5. What's amazing is the power has returned, but the K rate is still below his career average. He's able to do both.
  6. I tend to agree with that Laika. Happy to see better preparation and the added technology being used.
  7. The reality is our philosophy hasn't actually changed that much. We're still a team the values the ability to make contact and put the ball in play. We're actually just better at it this year than we were in 2023/24 (reduced K%). Our team ISO in 2025 is .164 and it was .161 in 2023 when everyone complained we'd sacrificed far too much power/offense for defense... Obviously it feels like big changes were made with the resurgence of Springer, Kirk, Schneider, Varsho, etc. and the improved overall results - but it's not like Popkins came in and told everyone to start pulling the ball in the air more. We're still a small ball team built on putting the ball in play - which is what EVERYONE hated the past 2-3 seasons. Maybe we're just using AI to steal signs better than most teams this year - who knows!
  8. I drove that bus. It still doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Martinez was the hitting coach when our offense was incredible in 2021 and Donnie Baseball is still here - he was primarily blamed as the reason the offense sucked. Did Popkins just convince him that everything he believed was wrong? Is Donnie banned from talking to players now? I still suspect that a couple of years from now, people will be calling for Popkins to be fired because the offense sucks. That said - something clicked and I'm willing to give Popkins some of that credit - more than I would have last year.
  9. Bats just went quiet unfortunately. It happens. It was nice to see the pitching perform well.
  10. It's wild. Scott has always been essentially unhittable - it was walks that would get him in trouble. But this year, he's got the lowest BB% of his career, but is now serving up home runs like Hoffman. He went from <0.4 HR/9 rates in 2023 and 2024 to 1.82 this year.
  11. Big f*cking Dib boys. I was at Morgan Wallen (humble brag - incredible show) and missed it, but was checking on my phone. Gausman absolutely shoved and a huge game from our start player. Well done. Now let's go get Game 2. Wallen brought out Jose and was wearing a Doc jersey. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DOPnL5bAAmC/?igsh=OTM0cWgwMGJtaDJw
  12. Term - you're 100% correct. Expect to see Little and Borucki a lot this series - as scary as that is, they'll be leaned on (for better or for worse). Unfortunately, I don't think warnings are going to impact the fickle crowd much.
  13. Can someone help me figure out Colson Montgomery? 2023 (age 21 season) in A and AA - 155 wRC+ with a 1:1 BB/K ratio (both at 19%) 2024 (age 22 season) in AAA - 81 wRC+, BB% of 12, K% of 29 2025 (age 23 season) in AAA - 78 wRC+ BB% of 8 and K% of 33 called up to the majors 123 wRC+, 17 HRs in 50 games with a .220 BABIP That is one wild ride. Obviously it seems unsustainable and it looks like he might be a bust after dominating the lower minors...
  14. Yanks few in late last night from Houston, while the Jays were in NY yesterday. We definitely want to take advantage of tonight's game and start this series with a dub.
  15. That was an incredible season. I absolutely LOVED watching him light it up one last season and get to 700 HRs. But - that's not what I'm looking for. I want to see Springer continue to be a legit DH for another 4 years. Like a 125 wRC+ or better bat. Someone who can hit in the middle of the Jays lineup. Pujols was brutal for a lonnng time before that last deadcat bounce season we all loved.
  16. You have to imagine that move is imminent.
  17. I find it interesting that stolen bases seem to be down this year (at least from the top end SB threats). 2024 SBs v. 2025 SBs (to date) Elly - 67 to 32 Ohtani - 59 to 17 (obviously pitching has had a major impact) Turang - 50 to 23 JRam - 41 to 36 (he's so consistent) Jizz - 40 to 26 M.Garcia - 37 to 22 Has anyone heard anything to explain this? I love SBs myself and I don't like this trend.
  18. He wasn't that good before TJS. 2022 was a nice year, but that's really been it.
  19. I was just thinking today - how fun would it be if George Springer aged like Beltre, Cruz, Ortiz? If he stuck around with the Jays and mashed until he was 39/40 on a bunch of short term deals. Obviously it's super unlikely, but it really couldn't happy to a better guy. Speaking of Big Papi, it is crazy to see Ortiz retired at 40 after a .315/.401/.620, 163 wRC+ 38 HR 127 RBI, 4.6 WAR season...
  20. Nobody ever blames the players - it's always the Managers fault. I think he told Varland to suck c*ck again!
  21. You understand he's been a very good defender his entire career and shouldn't be judged based on a single game right?
  22. Nobody gives a f*ck about Dillon Tate.
