They both kinda do via stat-scouting. Taylor just turned 19 (20 days ago) and has a wRC+ of 133 in low A ball as a 2nd baseman. That's a good lottery ticket in my books!
I think there's a chance that all 3 are on the team next year - along with Pillar in CF of course. DSJ playing mainly as a 4th OFer, but also in a semi platoon role.
This trade makes me happy. A very creative way to get a solid lottery ticket in a much needed position.
+1. The guys we got from Pittsburgh are awful. But then again, most lottery tickets are losers....the guy we get for Liriano will probably also be a loser. However, buying a lottery ticket is always fun.
This makes me smile a little.
Somewhere the Cleveland FO must be counting their lucky stars that Lucroy blocked a trade to them (in which they were rumoured to be giving up Mejia). I also just read Cleveland is considering a Mejia for Darvish trade.
That is the problem man. I don't think the Jays should give 2 f***s about people who buy season tickets simply to try and make money selling them on the secondary market. You're basically complaining that the Jays are raising prices and making it difficult for you to profit off their tickets. That's f***ed up.
Perhaps I was oblivious to it before, but it certainly appears cocaine use is way up in our area on a recreational level. It's been a massive issue in the NHL for years too, so I'm not surprised it's an issue in MLB (or the NFL/NBA for that matter).
I was talking about this last night with the boys after baseball. He came straight from A ball and was the best player in baseball for like a decade. I don't know how old he is, he certainly could be older than he proclaims. It's really sad he couldn't have aged more gracefully. Legendary player.
The defense looked bad, but I'm not going to draw conclusions based on like 5 games in LF this year. I thought reports said he could adequately cover CF (one in awhile as a 4th OF role) and was above average in LF.
I agree, but one factor to consider is Soler is owed $12M after this season ($4M per year until 2020). If you don't think he's going to contribute at the ML level, a team like the Royals would certainly like to rid themselves of that burden.
