  1. Looks like another box score type of game for me.
  2. I will admit I'm probably a little ignorant on this, but why is impersonating someone's accent racist? Isn't it stereotyping?
  3. We had that guy in Tellez, but he started slow when we needed him to be hot, then had to sit when we brought Springer back (too early) and had to DH him and then we shipped him away because the bullpen sucked. Sometime it just works out that way.
  4. I remember all the talk this spring about how the surgery reinstated a bunch of flexibility for Thornton and he could throw his change up again. So much hope, but he's been pure s***.
  5. I'm sure glad I took my son to a game when they were playing well and Springer was healthy. This team sucks and won't be in the playoffs. I do think we're in a great spot to compete for the division next year, but we still need to add. Sure hope we can extend Berrios and Ray too (or that trade is going to look pretty s*****).
  6. Every team in baseball would be in a better position if they fared better in 1 run games. There are a long list of factors that play into the results of 1 run games and luck is one of the biggest ones. In general, there are very few players who consistently perform better in high pressure situations (where one might call it clutch). It seems to fluctuate year to year....because there's a big element of randomness (or luck) involved.
  7. I agree. People have soured too much on Biggio IMO. He had about a 117 wRC+ over his first 160 games, plus runner and reduced his K% last year. Eliminated the juiced ball has probably hurt him more than most, but I still think there's a solid ball player who can be a key part of this team moving forward. The guy got moved to 3rd (and openly tried to learn a new position instead of complaining) and has been playing hurt most the year. Hope he comes back strong.
  8. I'm not sure Lance did. The 80 yard TD overshadowed a rather poor outing.
  9. I think if you research it, you'll find this isn't necessarily true. In any particular year, you'll find great teams who struggle in 1 run games and you'll find average/s***** teams who manage to win a ton of 1 run games.
  10. Fangraphs says our wRC+ in "high leverage" situations is like 104, which is 12th best in baseball (not 100% sure what high leverage is defined as).
  11. Yeah - you're going to need stats to prove that. You're also going to have to explain how sample size plays a factor and disprove it simply as random luck. We have the second best offense in baseball by wRC+ (5th by runs and only a few behind 2nd place) and we have the 2nd lowest K% in baseball. We also have the 9th highest oppo % in baseball. You sound like Buck when you say they should cut down their swings, but how do you know they aren't? There are several reasons we have a bad record in close games. s***** bullpen (for part/most of the year), below average manager, below average defense and base running as a team and of course the randomness of baseball.
  12. Pretty sure the Jays have one of the best team averages with runners on scoring position this year...
  13. Why do they have Ricky Romaro on the broadcast now? Just to go to him once a game where he tells us that he would have left the starter in?
  14. I just saw the other angle. I see it. You could relax a bit.
  15. Disqualified due to his own stupidity.
  16. Are you f***ing kidding me? It was incredible. MLB hit another home run. I got emotional watching them come through the corn and to listen to Costner (everyone's favourite baseball actor). It made me feel like a kid again. All the kids on my U11 team were talking about it last night, guessing who would win and recalling how much they loved the movie. And then an incredible game - back and forth, ending on a walk off home run in the absolutely perfect setting. How can you not be romantic about baseball? Maybe you have to be a true baseball fan to have enjoyed it. You also missed a great opportunity to call it 'corny' instead of cheesy. Dumbass.
  17. Deferrals are only good for the player if you're s***** with money.
  18. Remember when we played Panik over him. Those were good times.
  19. Buck hates pitchers using cheat sheets and teams switching up their signs. Shocking.
  20. You guys hear that A-Rod almost signed with the Red Sox to play with Manny, Ortiz, Pedro, etc.? Apparently he was taking a bit of a discount to play with them and everyone had signed the contract (Henry, Arod, etc.) except for Donald Fehr (Prez of the Players Association) who refused to sign it and talked A-Rod out of it because it looked bad for everyone else if A-Rod took a discount. I had no idea the President of the Players Association had to sign off on FA contracts or that he had this type of power. That's f***ing insane IMO.
  21. Did Buck just tell us that batter can't speed up their bat from one pitch to the next? Buck is hard on the "this is how we did it back in 1983" tonight. I hate it. Buck's going on about how he shouldn't be using the slider. 2 seconds later Shulman explains how he's thrown like 85% fastballs tonight.
  22. I think it was more poor execution. Ohtani fouled that inside fastball straight back. He was trying to throw the back foot slider and missed badly.
  23. Ohtani fouls a perfect inside pitch off straight back. Buck - "he has some holes in his swing" f*** off Buck.
