    I really don't understand this line of thinking. You cherry pick one player and base your comparison on that? Can't I simply say David Ortiz and Nelly Cruz to cancel out your examples and we're squarely back into the "well, I have no f***ing idea how he's going to age as a player" mindset - which is exactly where we should all be?

    Yeah, I quit watching at half time. Then flipped back to see the Bills tie it...only to blow it in OT. Glad they showed more heart than I did!

    I'm pretty sure no vesting option has been picked up by both parties in the last 20 years. They are essentially useless - make it a club option.

    The question is do you spend big to get MIF1 or SP/RP1 and hope to fill the other internally or by finding the diamond the the rough - or do you split the remaining money and try to plug both holes?

    Yeah - the plan has to be for him to be the 6th starter IMO.

    That sounds great, but I'm fairly sure the average 4th OFer gets 500+ PA's per year. Can't assume health.

    Right now you could argue that Grichuk/Kirk are our DH. When you consider how much the 4th OF plays, that means we're still looking at giving Grichuk 550 PA's this year. Suzuki could certainly replace that.
