  1. Agreed. And this will be the only time you can use this line during negotiations: Atkins - "Espinal is coming off an All Star season"
  2. Sorry, but Dave Stewart was absolutely f***ing stupid. End of story.
  3. I don't think this is true. Were you a huge fan of Dave Stewart also?
  4. He should have known they wouldn't compete to keep Bogaerts and traded him before this point. Chaim is a f***ing idiot - even if he "dodged a huge bullet".
  5. Don't forget that he whined all last offseason too...
  6. Can the Bills get him back now so he can be the Punt God again?
  7. Sal Frelick for Jansen - get it done Atkins. Garrett Mitchell would also be an option, but I'm not sold he's going to be a ML regular (although he has big upside and the risk might be why he'd be available).
  8. Um....that's why I suggested they still need to add a CFer? Also - Gurriel, Springer, Conforto is an improvement over our OF defense this past season (not that it would be ideal - although not the end of the world)
  9. Braves land Joe Jimenez for Justyn-Henry Malloy and Jake Higginbotham......Jimenez is a guy I would have liked to see in a Jays uniform.
  10. I wouldn't either. re-sign Stripling 3 yr $39M sign Conforto 1 yr $18M still need to trade for a CFer. Moreno for Alek Thomas + pitching prospect might work (I preferred Jansen for Nootbar instead of this, but that's no longer an option). I would really prefer an option where we trade Jansen and keep Kirk/Moreno - but I'm not sure that option exists now. Jansen for Chas M?
  11. FFS Jim - nobody is signing Stripling to be a swingman.
  12. Don't give a f*** Jim. Benny will be getting like 4+ years coming off 1 good year after several s***** ones, while Conforto likely wants a 1 year pillow deal.
  13. He should probably run in the other direction as fast as he can.
  14. You mean like studies that show it has little to no effect? I completely agree that logically, it exists - but the stats just don't support it to the magnitude you would expect - hence the hesitation my some. Now perhaps the studies are outdated and don't reflect the metrics that MLB teams actually use (like the ones that Laika suggests).
  15. That seems like solid value for a guy coming off a 4 WAR season.
  16. Why? Yankee legend, great park to hit in and SF isn't a good team (nor do they look like they will be anytime soon)
  17. Yeah this seems like an obvious fit. They can (over)pay him, they can play him without worrying about results and if he rebounds, they can trade him at the deadline or offer him a QO.
  18. Oh f*** - glad we passed.
  19. The one hang up is that Toronto wants to win a World Series next year. Belly will only sign somewhere that guarantees him a starting role all year long, no matter how bad he is. The Jays may not be willing to do that, while the Cubs and Giants may, if they don't anticipate contending.
  20. Apparently it's a 2 year deal with an opt out. Makes sense as he can cash in big time if he makes 32 starts this year and repeats his performance from 2022. No $ figures yet.
  21. That is going to be hard to turn down if true. No matter how much the lore of becoming a lifetime and all time great Yankee is...We'll see if the Yankees up their offer. Will the Dodgers pivot to a SS? Rumor has it the Cubs could try and sign 2 of Correa, Swanson and Bogaerts (says more likely it's Swanson and Bogaerts with the latter moving to 3rd).
