  1. I just read this morning that the Dodgers sent like 5 players down to work out with Driveline, including Betts, Muncy, Lux and Chris Taylor. Apparently with the weighted bat program and some analysis and efficiency changes to his swing, Gavin Lux added 6 MPH on his bat speed... https://www.nbcsportsedge.com/baseball/mlb/player-news/11079896 This type of stuff is the future of baseball. I sure hope we don't bring in old vets who tell batters to "take the knob to the ball" and pitchers to "pitch to contact". I worry the vets are generations behind in terms of the technology and training programs. Hopefully we have a stable of new age coaches who are pushing tangible improvements and the old vets are simply there to help with the mental side of baseball - getting through the grind and things like that and are leaving the training and strategies to the experts. I'm also shocked that the Dodgers had to send players to Driveline. I would think by now that all teams would have replica facilities setup with players using these to drive improvement.
  2. how disappointing.
  3. Yeah I'd love to know this. I suspect most of the financial benefit comes afterwards via social media. Some become social media (or OF) stars and make good money. Connorp could sell his farts in a jar like Stephanie Matto or continue his TV career by doing the Pillow Talk shows afterwards.
  4. FFS - I didn't call you a name Jim.
  5. Jim - stop being a dick. I am enjoying the insight into the 90 Day Fiance process. I always wondered how they managed to find people who were dating people from a foreign country where both parties agreed to be on the show. I wondered if the show played match maker or not. I wonder what % of cases are like connorp's where he says yes to being on the show, but the other person in the relationship says f*** that. I would have to think it's really high. I guess a certain % of applications would be made by a couple who are both fans of the show and agree beforehand to apply together?
  6. Anything that would reduce your post count on here would be great. Sorry - but you set yourself up for that one. I'm just f***ing with you, but Pat Venditte pitched parts of 5 years in the majors (albeit just 61 games and 72 total innings). It was a pretty interesting and well discussed time in MLB history, with new rules being added because he was able to pitch with both arms. I was just surprised you weren't familiar with him and fired off some jokes at your expense. Let's move on.
  7. I get it - no big deal. I just assumed that someone with so many opinions around here actually followed baseball Your explanation makes sense - memory loss sucks. Enjoy the pills.
  8. I would render a guess that out of people who consider themselves "baseball fans" - I mean people who feel as though they follow baseball, less than 2% would not be familiar with Pat Venditte, his custom glove the the rules surrounding how he pitched. I mean - he pitched for the Jays...
  9. I thought this was pretty interesting. I think most would assume that TB has had a lot more success over the years than Arizona (based on recency bias as Arizona obviously had a lot more success early on). I think Arizona's success has been a lot more up and down, but in the end, they've had similar success. Arizona is certainly on the rise again.
  10. Wait - do you not follow a lot of baseball?
  11. As someone who watches the show - please continue to proceed with this. It would be too good not to happen.

Oh dear - carry on. I'm dumn.
  13. Man - I used to think it was a given that a SS prospect would be above average defensively at 3rd or 2nd, but the reports on Barger and Orelvis are discouraging.

    NHL Thread

43 pts in 42 games this year suggests he's still a top 6 forward. 167 pts over his last 169 games.
  15. Guys - vagina jokes aren't funny. Period.
  16. Where is Aaron Judge playing? Bader, Judge, O.Cabrera, Hicks. I mean I expect Cabrera and Hicks to suck, so maybe Stanton does need to play some OF?
  17. What you typically don't hear about is how much he lost in the 2 years prior to (or after) that winning streak... I've never gotten into sports betting either. I used to play proline on Sundays for the football games, but I realized that it made me miserable when my bet was f***ed after like the 2nd quarter of the 1:00 games....and I was only betting $2.
  18. Why are you dragging me into this? I've never even responded to this thread and have no idea what you're talking about. That said - I do enjoy cannabis, so maybe that's why I don't remember?
  19. This is fantastic. I'm sickened that he had to apologize. I will admit I don't follow it close enough to know, but is it safe to say JT would typically outdrive Tiger these days? Tiger carrying this around for the 1 time he outdrives him is incredible. There will be boxes of tampons and maxi pads flying around at my guys golfing trip this year!
  20. The issue is hitters are so much better these days. To pitch 300 innings a year, pitchers would have to throw differently and I suspect they'd get lit the f*** up against today's hitters. Some might be able to do it - the best of the best. But most would get destroyed. I mean it's easy to say "give me Maddux any day of the week" - the guys arguably the best pitcher of all time. Could you imagine the Jays trying to squeeze 300 innings out of Berrios last year? Barf.
  21. Really insightful stuff here in the bold. I'm pretty sure that's true for every team in baseball. Not only in MLB, but all of the minors and every team on earth. If you have 4 and 1 gets hurt, you are down to 3. But how many major league teams can say the first part about having 4 solid SPs? Not many. Every team in baseball would like more solid SP depth and another high leverage guy in the pen. If feels like you're pointing out the obvious, just so if this year goes up in flames due to pitching - you can tell us all how you told us so and then you'll win 7 glorious internet points.
  22. I'm not surprised by either decision to be honest. I figured McGriff wouldn't be able to choose between Toronto and Atlanta and would go with no logo
  23. Good. I always thought Gausman's bouncing thing should have been a balk.
  24. Imagine thinking yards are part of the metric system...
  25. Holy crap. I had to look this name up. He was 19 years old and pitched for 2 seasons - like 30 innings total. There must be more to this story!
