  1. Considering this is the 1st and only bobblehead I've ever seen and said to myself "I want one of those" I suspect this will be one of the most anticipated and highest selling ones yet for Jays fans. Lineups will start 5+ hours before the gates open and I suspect people will start off selling them at $200 each, although I bet you could get one for $100 if you wait it out.
  2. I'm sorry man - but I don't think anyone believes the comment section of Twitter or Facebook represents anything of value. It is a f***ing cesspool and collection of morons.
  3. Well now I had to go look up the numbers... Chapman - 2022 Bases empty - 105 wRC+ Men on base - 130 wRC+ Men in scoring - 121 wRC+ So of course your perspective is simply wrong and Chapman is a well above average hitter with runners on base. Now this doesn't factor in now consistent he is with runners on - but still, in general, NO, my heart doesn't drop when he comes to the plate with men on base. He was a better hitter with men in scoring position last year than Vlad was.
  4. Why would you expect anything different? All hitters provide value in different ways.
  5. After consulting with legal council (ie, TMZ), they said that if they were racing and they caused another accident, which resulted in someone dying - that he would have been charged with manslaughter. But in this case - they probably can't prove that Jalen Carter caused the accident (besides being involved in the race), he probably just gets the reckless driving and racing charges. That said, Laremy Tunsil dropped like 10 spots in the draft after a video of him hitting the bong through a gas mask emerged just before the draft. Maybe that's the 'woke' stuff connorp was referring to, but it will be interesting to see if he falls because of this.
  6. I'd love to know how many successful pickoffs there are after a 2nd attempt. I suspect it's a VERY low amount (especially from RHP). It feels like 80% of pick off attempts are a waste of time. They are just token throws over to let the runner know you can see him (like he'd forgotten) and/or is a stall tactic for the pitcher to re-group or recover before the next pitch. I certainly know that sometimes pitchers start off with their "C" move to 1st and are trying to setup that runner - I just don't think that happens enough to matter. Maybe this was more relevant back in the early 2000's when stealing was more common? Recently it just seems there are way too many pickoff attempts when everyone knows that runner isn't going anywhere. Maybe it will become more relevant again now with the larger bases? I don't know - but I can do away with pickoff throws. I never had a great move and didn't throw over often when I pitched, so maybe that's skewing my view.
  7. I agree with this and I think the biggest improvement to the game of baseball will be to give fans fewer opportunities to boo the pitcher when he attempts a pick off. It's so f***ing stupid.
  8. If you throw over a 3rd time - you have to get the runner out. If the runner is safe on a 3rd pickoff attempt, he's awarded the next base.
  9. Remember you're talking with Carlos - who's going to live and die with the narrative that the BJ's pitching depth is s*** this year.
  10. I think you're underestimating that possibility.
  11. Is this a cost cutting exercise? Only need to pay him $10/hr if he only records strikes! Or is he doing like 4 games at once - hence the need to keep it simple and only record the basics? Probably the later eh. If so - this guy must be 'thrilled' with the new pitch clock. Maybe JaysAllMighty is doing this job? That would explain a lot.
  12. So some guy is watching the game and entering the data and he's like "f*** this - I'm only doing strikes"
  13. The real question is did they continue to follow the pitch clock rules!
  14. stuff+ 112 location+ 54
  15. Lazaro Estrada, RHP. The owner of the best curveball in the Blue Jays system, Estrada gets his curveball up to 3,400 rpm with heavy, two-plane break.
  16. Believe me - you're not in my head. I actually love how much this pitch clock is pissing people off.
  17. You're neck and neck with JaysAllMighty for the broken record leader on this board. Keep up the 'great' work.
  18. Pop is exactly the guy I would have hoped spent all winter in the lab working on developing a swing and miss pitch(es).
  19. We know you hate all change. Your last 37 posts have been to complain about it. Why don't you try the facebook comment page where this type of closeminded ******** is more accepted?

Is this a good move for the Buds? I don't follow hockey enough to know.
  22. I was talking to my friends about how the pitch clock will impact the broadcast. Less dead time to tell stories (or for Buck to tell us things that simply aren't true) - which some will probably miss. I think it may help as with less dead time to fill (while the batter scratches his nuts and adjusts his batting gloves), the broadcast crew will be able to stick to their 'A' material.
  23. You're suggesting umpires ignore balks on purpose in late game situations because they don't want them to impact the outcome of the game? There is a 0% chance I believe this happens. I mean an umpire may "miss" a balk call, but there's no way I'm going to believe that they see the balk and choose not to call it (as this would also require the other umpires on the field to see and then make the same non-call on purpose). It was just posted above that 23 games have ended on balk calls MLB history. Did those umpires forget to not call them in absolutely the most impactful time of the game (ie, where a balk ends the game)? Balks are rare because pitchers know they are against the rules and the work hard to avoid breaking the rules. The same thing will happen with the pitch clock - especially when the game is on the line.
  24. Exactly. Don't we all remember the people who were losing their minds when we eliminated take out slides at 2nd base? Did they all quit watching baseball? I don't hear anyone talk about that rule change anymore - it all died within a couple of months (except for the s*** at home plate, which I think they could fix really easily - can't ever block any bag - problem solved).
