  1. Can we create a separate "rebuild" thread so I don't have to sift through this nonsense?
  2. It makes me f***ing sick to my stomach that this guys life was completely altered without the proper facts and information. I saw a meme the other day - it was something like "why don't teenagers and young adults ever leave their house these days" and the answer was because everything costs a million dollars and anytime you're out of your house having fun, someone is video taping you. I'm sure Araiza regrets leaving his house that day.
  3. Barf. I'm not sure Manoah's a ML pitcher without a quality slider. It will be interesting to see if his antics and loud mouth stop now...
  4. I think I read this was being proposed in support of an expansion team? The last thing baseball needs is another MLB team in Florida.
  5. Brett Phillips has a higher WAR as a pitcher than Tyler Anderson. Brett Phillips has a higher WAR as a pitcher than as a hitter. That's all I've got today.

Why do the Leafs give TJ Brodie so much ice?
  7. I think I saw that by the numbers (pop time, arm strength, blocking and framing) - he seems decent/solid? They're saying things like "Yadi used to do all these little things". Don't know what that means though or why they think these backup catchers are going to be tangibly better. Something is up.
  8. Hard to believe he's still only 25. Drafted in 2016!
  9. It's taken awhile, but Heston Kjerstad is crushing AA this year.
  10. It's pretty crazy that Moreno is a lifetime .305 hitter and his wRC+ is 96.
  11. I may be way off here, but it feels like the ability to "call a better game" is something you should be able to teach a ML catcher - and in relatively short order. Get in the video room and figure it out. It's like guys who learned to frame better and went from being s*** to great in 1 offseason. I'm also somewhat surprised with pitch-com that we don't yet have coaches calling the game from the bench.
  12. Of course Chapman is open to an extension right now - while he's rocking a 187 wRC+ and is playing like one of the best players in baseball. If Chapman was hitting like Springer - there'd be no discussion on his side of an extension.
  13. Gurriel is pretty hot for Zona right now.
  14. Ever stop to consider the decisions they make aren't actually "mistakes"? Almost every decision comes with a probability of success - and of course a probability of failure. Just because the result was a failure, doesn't mean the decision was a mistake. Someone pointed out that the moves he made v. Seattle last series were very similar to those made in Game 2 of the playoff game v. Seattle. If they were - wouldn't that suggest those decisions were made using the highest probability for success? The reality is the outcome is out of the managers control (and I say that with full disclosure that I didn't agree with the moves Schneider made in Game 2 either - couldn't understand them). Look at it this way. If the probability of getting a 1st down in football on 4th and inches is 90% (based on the play you're going to call) and it fails the first time - do you want the coach to abandon going for it on 4th and inches again because it was a 'mistake' the first time? Of course you don't. I'm not suggesting every decision is based off what the computer tells you, but you certainly don't abandon it just because the results went against the probabilities. Of course you need to ensure the information the computer is calculating is accurate as well - which leads back to the point that it's a very complicated matter and you're simplistic opinions, with very little information are comical.
  15. Holy f*** this is a terrible take. Schnieder has been managing successful teams for the past 15 years, winning multiple championship along the way, while working his way up through the minors to the majors. You think he's accomplished all of that without any feel for the game? Do you also think that everyone in the organization is a f***ing moron? Obviously you must if they keep promoting him. Ever stop - just for a second - to consider that you may be sitting atop Mount Stupid?
  16. Fans: Jays hit a ton of home runs - "Jays rely too much on the long ball. They can't manufacture runs and this won't work in the playoffs" Jays hit less home runs - "Jays need to hit more home runs"
  17. Not sure that's true. We lose a couple of games and TONS of people are complaining. In fact, I believe it's very easy to complain.
  18. You're missing the point Jonn. No sense continuing this. It seems like some fans just constantly rip managers - they're never happy and nobody does a good job at it. I've always struggled to know how you develop those opinions without considering that manager v. his peers and without considering all the correct calls they make. It's a pretty complex position and I don't even pretend to know what decisions the manager has full control over v. the ones he doesn't and thus I never feel I have remotely close to enough information to make an informed opinion - so I just don't. IMO, managers and umpires are similar. Even if they are well above average - people still complain and suggest they are s*** at their jobs (often while in the absence of facts). When the fans favourite team wins, you hear nothing about either of them, but when they lose, the bitching starts.
  19. Solid list of options - but Arenado can come off it. For Rendon - Angels would need to eat almost all of the Contract.
  20. Who's the best manager in baseball? Do you not think that if you followed his games day in and day out you'd point out several moves you don't agree with?
  21. Is it? Don't you think bullpen deployment strategy is something that the FO and the advances analytics teams have a strong say in?
  22. We can exceed the luxury tax guys and I'm sure that won't be a concern if we're in WS contention. We don't want to be over the luxury tax for 3-4 straight years, but doing it this year won't be a major issue.
  23. Did you expect every FO that was interested in Belt to personally call you? or report it to ESPN or something? Just because rumours didn't leak out, doesn't mean there was no interest in Belt.
  24. Merrifield at 2nd has been great and KK in CF have been very good - about as good as expected. Perhaps your factoring in days when Varsho covers CF and Espy/Biggio play 2nd - but I still don't see how you lock those 2 positions into the 'sucky' category.
