  1. I think the same thing. His vision has been corrected. He's got the tools. We will see.
  2. We missed out on Prado and McCarthy last year. Both would have addressed weaknesses and we'd still potentially have Gose as the 4th OF.
  3. This guy is outstanding when healthy, dirty stuff, tops 98 mph IIRC. He must have been recovering from his surgery last year. Can't recall if it was TJ or another soft tissue surgery on his throwing arm.
  4. I honestly thought he may sign with us yesterday just minutes before the state of the franchise to take heat off the FO and to get away from the tough questions. #naive
  5. Someone said they are bottom 5.
  6. I'd love this move. Keeps Norris in AAA and Sanchez can be closer for one year (or more) taking care of that bullpen. Shields takes over MB's role as dependable 2-3 guy for the next three years after this season. As others have said, this would save the bullpen ~ 40-50 innings. Keep them more rested than last year. And with Martin framing, I doubt Shields regresses to the extent many feel. Honestly, I think it's a perfect fit. And may give us 2 more WAR in that SP position. That could make the difference.
  7. I'm not from TO, but I've been lucky enough to see many Jays games in TO (5 this last fall). I like the Rogers Centre, and think it's still a nice stadium. I've been to Camden Yards, Safeco and Coors Field, and they are really nice, but I think if the Jays sunk say $100M into the Rogers Centre for renos it would be amazing. And after the grass is installed of course.
  8. Yeah, I saw that today. It's really a neat article. Everyone on this board should give it a read.
  9. These questions have been okay, actually. Not entirely puff balls.
  10. And it's not like we're paying him $22M a year or something. I totally agree. And after today, reading the Dickey Effect article, it is clear that he adds another ~ 1.5 WAR with the effect. Plus, he's the most interesting baseball interview ever.
  11. I've pitched a long time and had bone spurs removed from my elbow. You're right, it was a fast recovery. I've had three meniscus tear surgeries, too. Fast recoveries. But man, ligaments are a different ball of wax. The rehab, I thought, would take 2-3 months. But I've luckily not experiences one of those s***** deals.
  12. Isn't he like, historically, 2-16 against the Yanks with an ERA north of 6? I can't recall, but yeah, no need to pitch him. I'd almost start one of our AAA depth starters than MB against the Yanks (spit!) to start the season. At least until he gets into a groove.
  13. Wow, great article!!! It'd maybe make sense to have Stroman follow Dickey then? Anyway, super interesting read. The Dickey effect is real!
  14. I suggest they sit all their starters, because I am a Jays fan and want them to win. What I am *saying* is that often teams will rest/sit a player who historically may have messed his swing up for a day or two after facing Dickey.
  15. I really like Rondon. Romero + Navarro for Rondon
  16. Oh that's it? It sounded more serious than that.
  17. OMG, Tiger fans must feel snakebitten. Their two boppers are never healthy at the same time it seems. But man, yeah, wouldn't they have slight interest at least in Navarro now? I'm not kidding. Wouldn't this mean the end to V-Mart's season?
  18. Dickey is my starter, just because his knuckleball supposedly messes with timing for a game or two. Maybe 1-2 good hitters sit. Plus, I want to see how defensive gem Martin handles the knuckler. BTW, is that a proven fact? I'd like to see some statistical proof of the Dickey effect.
  19. Why have the Jays stayed away from all Cubans, seemingly, since Hech?
  20. Here is Saskatoon, blackouts in 2013, not at all in 2014. Let me know if you need someone to go in on MLB.COM with you.
  21. Thank God for those ridiculous contracts, otherwise one or both would be with an AL East team still providing positive WAR. #opinion
  22. I wish the Wishin' Boot would bring us James Shields and a couple of relievers... #snl #reference
  23. Bwahahahaha. True 'dat #cold #dark #SK
  24. Such a great post. Sad, but great post. I didn't really realize how much better the AA regime has been draft-wise. A real eye opener.
