  1. Seems like Doubront has completely lost his focus after that missed call.
  2. To be accurate he hit into what should have been a double play, which many other Blue Jays have done this year and almost every other player on every other team has done this year. Goins had nothing to do with the base running of Carrera (which was a real head shaker). The ball Goins hit that turned into a triple play in some situations might have been a double down the right field line if the 1st baseman wasn't holding the runner (Pillar) on base. Blame Goins for not getting the bunt down, but if you blame him for making contact and hitting it fair down the right line then to be fair you have to call out many Blue Jays for many plays this year. He also hit a weak grounder to the pitcher on his 3rd at bat. Goins isn't an all-star but I bet there are many fans who would like to be as "useless" as Ryan Goins at baseball.
  3. I was looking forward to the 2015 NFL season since I thought this season was over for the Blue Jays. This trade will make watching the Blue Jays interesting again.
  4. I am amazed that AA was able to find a team willing to take Reyes. It will be interesting to see if the Rockies will be able to move him to another team but this article seems to say that it will be difficult - http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/id/60910/blue-jays-make-nice-upgrade-at-shortstop-with-tulowitzki In all fairness to Reyes, I thought it was his return from the DL that sparked the Blue Jays to their 11 game winning streak this year.
  5. I thought everyone loved Donaldson as a player? I just reread your post. I guess you meant Donaldson was lying about Reyes. I guess I must be a bit slow.
  6. Donaldson stood up for Reyes according to this story - http://www.torontosun.com/2015/07/13/jays-donaldson-backs-jose-reyes But when I read it I wondered if Donaldson had a tough time thinking of something good to say. “Reyes is one of the best shortstops in the game and I’m not making excuses for him,” Donaldson told reporters. The third baseman defended Reyes and his two-error Sunday saying “it was like 110 degrees on the field in KC. They didn’t water the field, so it was like concrete. I think he let both balls play him.” Who is the better defensive shortstop Ryan Goins or Reyes? “Reyes makes $22 million or whatever, of course Reyes is better,” said Donaldson. “I want the ball hit to Jose Reyes when the game is on the line.” Making $22 million a year doesn't seem like a reason to have confidence in Reyes at SS (especially this year). I am glad Donaldson is on the Blue Jays. He really seems like a team player who wants to win.
  7. I am concerned but is the current artificial turf causing injuries? Since it is new maybe it isn't a problem? Have players made comments about it this year?
  8. Well I guess it would be acceptable if he is a Donaldson like player talent wise. I am having some bad feelings about this trade. The Colorado Rockies have been a last place team for some time now.
  9. This basically confirms what I have felt for the past couple of years. The Blue Jays management is completely focused on offense, although it appears that Troy Tulowitzki is good defensively also. Is it possible that Jose Reyes was so difficult to deal with that they just wanted to get him off the team at any cost? Troy Tulowitzki has seen a lot of injury time, so are people prepared to see Goins playing a lot of games at SS? Maybe Troy Tulowitzki is willing to rest a couple of games a week to extend his career unlike Reyes? If he isn't overplayed then maybe he can be productive for another 4 - 5 years?
  10. Unfortunately, even without Goins in the lineup the Blue Jays are playing a few games under 0.500 ball this season. So releasing Goins, a bench player, isn't going to have much effect. The Blue Jays scored 5 runs but once again that wasn't enough. If the Blue Jays need to score 6 to 7 runs each game to have a good chance of wining then this isn't a team that can make the playoffs.
  11. I completely agree. Goins has quick reflexes on defense so I am not sure why he hasn't learned to bunt.
  12. No. I like Goins' defensive play and I would like to see him get a chance somewhere. I just don't think he fits in Toronto because he can't crush the ball.
  13. Certainly not a good offensive game by Goins. Goins didn't make any mistakes on defense but didn't have many chances. In hindsight playing Devon Travis for the full game might have made the difference. Carrera played a good game except for the one terrible baserunning mistake. In my opinion, if Loop isn't going to be used strictly as a Loogy, then he should be sent down to AAA (I thought that 2 months ago). I tend to think that as soon as he enters the game that the game is lost. I am hoping that Goins will be traded to another team. There seems to be too much negativity towards him in Toronto both from the fans and the manager. Maybe the change will do him good. Goins doesn't really fit on such an offensively minded team.
  14. Has Zaun always been so big of Colabello in LF?
  15. I think that the 8 and 9 hitters (recently Pillar and Travis) have done a good job of getting on base for the top of the lineup. It doesn't seem like a bad idea to keep things the way that they are.
  16. I can't fault Gibbons for giving players days off. If the Blue Jays are to make a run for the playoffs their top players will have to remain healthy. I like Goins' defense but Devon Travis has shown himself to be a better hitter and decent 2nd baseman. However, I don't think that starting Goins at 2B today will hurt the Blue Jays. I think it would actually help the team to give Reyes 2 days off each week at SS and play Goins. Having Reyes fresh will be a big benefit for the Blue Jays over the coming two months. Devon Travis will be available for pinch hitting if needed (assuming he doesn't have the flu that has hit a couple Blue Jay players)
  17. Today's Blue Jays lineup is posted - Blue Jays SS: Jose Reyes 3B: Josh Donaldson RF: Jose Bautista DH: Edwin Encarnacion 1B: Justin Smoak C: Russell Martin LF: Ezequiel Carrera CF: Kevin Pillar 2B: Ryan Goins SP: Mark Buehrle
  18. It will be interesting to see if Hutchinson can pitch as effectively at Safeco Field as he does at the Rogers Centre.
  19. Today's lineup has been posted - http://m.mlb.com/news/article/137534902 Blue Jays SS: Jose Reyes 3B: Josh Donaldson RF: Jose Bautista DH: Edwin Encarnacion 1B: Chris Colabello C: Russell Martin LF: Danny Valencia CF: Kevin Pillar 2B: Devon Travis SP: Drew Hutchison Mariners CF: Austin Jackson 3B: Kyle Seager DH: Nelson Cruz 2B: Robinson Cano LF: Seth Smith RF: Mark Trumbo 1B: Logan Morrison SS: Chris Taylor C: Jesus Sucre SP: J.A. Happ
  20. Thank you. I really enjoyed the Kansas City Kaufman Field pictures since I also like skyscrapers and stadiums.
  21. It is too bad that the Blue Jays weren't called the Toronto Canadians. They are representing baseball in Canada to many fans in places like Calgary, Edmonton, Regina and Vancouver who would normally be rooting against Toronto in hockey and CFL football. I grew up in Nova Scotia rooting for the Boston Bruins in the NHL and I never will root for the Maple Leafs.
  22. Am I intruding on your space? Apparently with 6096 posts you seem to consider this forum to be your territory and others can't disagree with you. It is not a troll account. I have lived in the GTA for 33 of the last 35 years (probably longer than you have been alive). I have been completely honest, if the Expos were still in Montreal then I would have little interest in the Blue Jays. When I moved to Toronto from Nova Scotia in 1980, I thought that Torontonians were extremely rude and arrogant. Hamiltonians are much nicer people even though they live only an hour from Toronto. When I read posts by people such as you it reinforces my mental picture of the arrogant Torontonian, and it is almost enough for me to want the Blue Jays to lose, since you are a really jerk and a Blue Jays fan.
  23. I am expecting another great game from the Estrada/Navarro duel. I hope it will be similar to the game last Sunday against Archer in which Estrada pitched very well and it was reported that Navarro called all the pitches. I predict a good offensive game from Navarro tonight. I think Gibbons is doing the right thing by resting Martin a couple of times week so that if the Blue Jays make it to the playoffs, Martin will be healthy I am looking forward to this game, primarily because of the pitching matchup. Go Jays go.
