  1. I am pretty sure that was in Tampa Bay.
  2. I think this is a good comment, it is basically how I feel. Devon Travis is a natural hitter whereas Goins has to work at it. Goins has developed such a bad image offensively from 2013, 2014 and the first part of 2015 that it would take one full season of 100 wRC+ to convince people that he can hit consistently. As you stated, it's will be a good problem to have if Goins continues to improve offensively, as to whether to keep him on the bench next year (especially if the Blue Jays go deep into the playoffs with Goins at 2nd base). One thing that I wonder is whether Goins can handle the pressure of people expecting him to perform offensively at the level that he has since July 1st? In any case, I am a big Goins fan so hopefully he will continue to perform well offensively and will get into at least a hundred games next year as a Blue Jay. 3. Good quote. Better than him saying that they don't care (or something similar to this).
  4. Thank you. Is this for a charity?
  5. What is the story with the Blue Jays and teddy bears?
  6. You might be right but I feel certain that Goins improved offensive numbers are related to his greatly improved BB%. As long as Goins remains patient at the plate and swings at mostly pitches in the strike zone then his offensive numbers should continue to be good. I will check later, but I wonder if a player like Bautista was as patient at the plate earlier in his career as he is now. I hope that Goins will continue to be as patient at the plate as he is now.
  7. I am not sure if you are being sarcastic or not. Robbie Alomar is in the Hall of Fame, however his defensive stats aren't as good as Ryan Goins' defensive stats. (if you really are talking about defensive numbers) Roberto Alomar - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=860&position=2B Ryan Goins - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=9807&position=2B/SS
  8. Aaron Hill? I don't remember it but checked fangraphs - http://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=6104&position=2B
  9. I agree. I don't know why the Blue Jays would want to trade Tulowitzki. It is easy to quantify offensive numbers but I think Tulowitzki's defensive contribution is being greatly underestimated by some.
  10. It is unlikely that Goins could perform at the 2nd half level for 150 games over a full season; if he could he would be a 5.5 WAR player (1.3 x 150/35). However, if Goins can play at a 2.5 - 3.0 WAR over 150 games there are probably teams in the MLB who would want him as their regular 2nd baseman or SS.
  11. Interesting stat, especially since it includes the NL and AL. Also, Goins did a WAR of 1.3 in fewer games than the others ahead of him. It is unlikely that Goins could do it for 150 games over a full season; if he could he would be a 5.5 WAR player (1.3 x 150/35)
  12. Blue Jays lineup from the Blue Jays Twitter - https://twitter.com/BlueJays. Hopefully Estrada will have a great game, and likewise for his dedicated catcher in Navarro.
  13. You showed some restraint there. Thumbs up to you.
  14. fify You shocked me. Not the response I expected. I will give you points this time.
  15. A bully and a troll, yes you are. Grow up.
  16. Groan, Spanky99 trolls at 3:57 am. Here is a list of 18 types of trolls; which one is Spanky99? I am guessing # 16 - http://www.smosh.com/smosh-pit/articles/18-types-of-internet-trolls However, the best advice: Don't feed the Troll http://cdn.smosh.com/sites/default/files/legacy.images/smosh-pit/112010/no-troll-feeding.jpg
  17. Another good win by the Blue Jays. Predictions for Sunday's game? I think it will be a similar score to Saturday's game except the Orioles might get 1 or 2 more runs. I am going to guess that the Blue Jays will win 5 - 3. After Fridays let-down by Hutchison I wonder if Stroman might take a start away from Hutchison and Buehrle (since Buehrle admitted to being tired) over the final four weeks.
  18. Nice GDT by BBBB, and great show of Big Bouncey Blue balls in doing it. Torpedoes away. Now I think that Twisted Logic has to show some by coming back and doing the GDT tomorrow
  19. Today's lineup from the Blue Jays Twitter - I can't say that I like having Tulowitzki in the number 5 spot. He just hasn't been driving in many runs since being in Toronto (I think the team was better with Tulwitzki in the number 1 spot). However, I appreciate Tulowitzki's defense I think that is one reason for the Blue turnaround since he has arrived, as is indicated by the lower team ERA.
  20. I noticed that in the 3rd game against Cleveland after the walk-off home run in the 2nd game that Goins appeared to be going back to his old ways by over-swinging in his first 3 at-bats. In his first 3 at-bats he had a fly out and 2 strikeouts. Luckily Goins seemed to realize what he was doing and in his 4th at-bat got a base hit up the middle to extend his hitting streak. It will be interesting to see over the weekend if Goins maintains his plate discipline and doesn't try to do too much at the plate (such as trying to hit home runs).
  21. Interesting stat. I was actually hoping that something like this would happen, that he would continue to be selective but instead of taking lots of walks he would start hitting juicy pitches for base hits. Not only did Goins get a home run last night, he extended his hit streak (to 11 games, I believe).
  22. Quite impressive. The wRC+ is up to date but the WAR will be updated after 3:30 am this morning, I expect it to be around 1.4 by tomorrow morning (in 100 games). EDIT: Fangraphs normally updates between 5 - 6 am each day (the update time is shown in a footnote near the end of each stats page). Ryan Goins WAR is now at 1.4, and his wRC+ is 87 as you had stated. It will be difficult to consider Goins to be a replacement level player if he keeps it up.
  23. Amazing game, especially the ending. Goins continues to amaze with his bat over the past 2 months. I have been a Goins fan but up until today I thought he was kind of like the weak, chubby underdog; during the post game celebration when he was down to a T-shirt I realized that he is actually quite muscular almost like Russel Martin. From now on I am going to expect more power from Goins, he has the build for it.
  24. They would have to go 26 wins - 6 losses in the remaining 32 games so it is remotely possible, however, I think if the Blue Jays were to play that well then they will have clinched the AL East with several games to play and would rest some of their regulars in the final week. I hope the blue Jays will continue to roll so that they can rest their regulars in the final week and give some playing time to players called up from the minors.
  25. I am not offended by a differing viewpoint, but just looking at the video the SS didn't seem to make an all out effort - http://m.mlb.com/video/v430463683/nyyatl-arod-lines-a-single-knocks-in-two-runs/?game_pk=415598 . Quite possibly Tulowitzki wouldn't have made the play either but I think Tulowitzki would have made it close. However, if it was hit on the Rogers Centre turf then it might have slowed more.
