  1. I am stoked for this game. It would be so sweet for the Blue Jays to win after last night's loss. This 3 game series is great for players to get ready for the playoffs. If the Blue Jays can handle the intensity of this series they can handle the intensity of the playoffs.
  2. Any Blue Jays fan must be stoked for the 3rd game tonight against the Yankees. Stroman will be fired up for sure. I like this picture of Stroman greeting Price coming into the dugout. I am not really a Lion King fan but this picture is fitting: Mufasa and Simba http://images2.fanpop.com/images/photos/7600000/Mufasa-and-Simba-mufasa-7681872-1039-768.jpg
  3. Yes, this is another reason. It is putting pressure on Donaldson to get a dramatic hit instead of him being patient at the plate. I wonder if Donaldson could have walked in the winning RBI just by being patient at the plate. Miller seemed to be having trouble finding the strike zone.
  4. My guess is that Gibbons wanted to see how Hutchison would do from the bullpen in a high pressure situation. Hutchison's poor performance tonight could mean that he won't he on the 25 man playoff roster.
  5. I think in reality, the Blue Jays were very luckily to be tied with a chance to win the game in the bottom of the ninth, considering how the Yankees had a runner thrown out at 3rd and another at home.
  6. The loss tonight will make a win tomorrow so much sweeter. The game tomorrow has just become amplified in excitement value.
  7. I wish fans would stop shouting MVP when Donaldson comes to the plate. Donaldson has said in the past that it makes him feel uncomfortable. By shouting MVP, the fans are basically shouting that Donaldson is better than everyone else on the team; even if it is true it isn't very respectful of all the other players such as Bautista and Encarnacion who have contributed to the team for a few years now.
  8. It would have been great to see the Blue Jays come through in the 8th or 9th with a big hit (they did get the Navarro home run though), but still there were quite a few big plays by the Blue Jays on defense and offense. One positive point for the Blue Jays is that the Yankees had to use two of their best relievers in the win. Certainly Miller won't be pitching tomorrow. In any case, hopefully the Blue Jays will have a big lead going into the late innings tomorrow so it will be a moot point anyway.
  9. Nothing fazes Loup. He smiles no matter what.
  10. Story about Tulowitzki throwing and fielding - http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-tulowitzki-plays-catch-as-progress-continues/ Great news!!!
  11. Barney is not eligible for the playoff roster whereas Kawasaki is. Since Tulowitzki probably won't be playing in the first round, the Blue Jays probably want to get Kawasaki into a game that is meaningful. Pennington might be tired also, since he wasn't playing very much in Arizona prior to coming to the Blue Jays.
  12. I am excited to watch the game. It was tough to focus on work today. Kawasaki is playing; I hope he gets a couple hits, a walk and maybe a sac bunt, along with being involved in a couple of defensive double plays. How can anyone not like Kawasaki
  13. haha, yips . I am pretty sure they are tuning Kawasaki up for the playoffs since Tulowitzki probably won't be ready for the first round.
  14. I just remembered that the injury wasn't on his throwing side; the injury is on his catching side. He might be able to throw without to much pain but he won't be ready until he can hit and field.
  15. Estrada has a much lower ERA with Navarro catching than Martin (please no time machine remarks regarding the use of ERA). ERA is perfectly legitimate in comparing pitchers on the same team (but not when comparing pitchers on other teams since ERA is so strongly influenced by team defense). I think Navarro is far more cerebral than he is given credit for (maybe because of his accent). I hope Navarro will catch Estrada in the playoffs because they work best together and because Navarro deserves it.
  16. Some good news:
  17. This is some good news:
  18. Kawasaki getting the start probably means that they don't expect Tulowitzki back for the first playoff round.
  19. Boston Red Sox continue to play decent baseball. They have moved out of last place past Tampa Bay by beating them 8-7 tonight - http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2015_09_21_tbamlb_bosmlb_1#game=2015_09_21_tbamlb_bosmlb_1,game_state=Wrapup,game_tab=box Luckily the Yankees have to play the Red Sox for 4 games starting next Monday and hopefully the Red Sox will help the Blue Jays clinch the AL East by beating the Yankees in 2 or 3 of the 4 games.
  20. Maybe there should be a separate thread for Tulowitzki's injury? I posted this is the general thread earlier today - http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-tulowitzki-i-feel-like-im-making-strides/ . Tulowitzki gives a great interview (there is an embedded video in the story but it takes time to load). It doesn't sound promising.
  21. Not the greatest game defensively for Goins today. One error and one play that normally he would have made that was called an infield hit. I am not sure what was going on with the Blue Jays today, they made 3 errors and a couple of poor defensive plays that weren't called errors (a ball that bounced off Navarro that should have been an out on the 4th run, and a throw wide by Pennington that should have completed a double play). In reality it was like 5 or 6 errors. I hope the Blue Jays will put today's game behind them by Monday's game with the Yankees. With Tulowitzki out, a player like Goins can't afford to lose confidence in his defensive abilities (such as what happened to Pompey early in the season). Overall the last two days were very disappointing, but the Red Sox have plenty of talent on their team.
  22. You said it. It is great to have Price to prevent losing streaks.
