  1. Of course it isn't a pipe dream, so I said "tie (or better)" because I know the Blue Jays only need a tie. However, it isn't completely inevitable since the Blue Jays aren't playing the Royals over the last 8 games and therefore the Blue Jays need to count on the teams that Kansas is playing to beat the Royals. On August 25th, the Royals were at 77 wins - 48 losses - http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/standings/index.jsp#20150825, as of last night (one month later) they were 89-64 so they have only gone 12-16 over the past month. The Royals haven't been very good over the past month.
  2. The Blue Jays were averaging 34,010 fans per game prior to last night's game against Tampa - http://espn.go.com/mlb/attendance . They will finish in 8th in attendance and will fall just a 4-5 thousand short of 2.8 million after the final regular season game on Sunday.
  3. The Kansas City Royals will have to face Cleveland for 2 more games this weekend in Kansas, and then go on the road and face Chicago Cubs on Monday (make-up game), White Sox for two games and then the Twins for three games next weekend - http://kansascity.royals.mlb.com/schedule/index.jsp?c_id=kc#y=2015&m=9&calendar=DEFAULT . So if the Blue jays can continue to play well for the final 8 games they have a good chance of tying the Royals (or better) and thus getting first place overall. Hopefully the Blue Jays won't celebrate the winning of the AL East with too much campaign and lose the edge in winning the AL best record.
  4. The BB codes that can be used on this forum are listed at this link - http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/misc.php?do=bbcode , with examples on how to use them.
  5. The only real difference is Donaldson getting a day off at 3B. Pillar, Goins and either Pennington or Barney would be playing regardless.
  6. I think he has been on the roster most days, but he probably won't play (he wasn't put onto the DL since there was no need to free up a roster spot). Hopefully they will get him onto the field during the Baltimore series starting on Monday.
  7. Is this really Josh Donaldson? Donaldson has shed a few pounds since his days as a catcher on the Oakland A's (I think it was very short-lived).
  8. I wouldn't be in too much despair, there are several players that can pinch hit at anytime. It should also be noted that Goins is hitting above average (wRC+ of 116) since July 3rd (189 plate appearances - http://www.fangraphs.com/statsd.aspx?playerid=9807&position=2B/SS&type=&gds=2015-07-03&gde=2015-09-23&season= ) when he changed his hitting style (both stance and plate discipline). Pillar had a good series against the Yankees when it was needed. I think Pillar will be a multi-year All Star in the future once he consistently shows the plate discipline that he did during the Yankee series. Pennington has had some clutch hits as a Blue Jay and I think Barney was 1 for 2 a couple of nights ago against the Yankees (Barney isn't crappy, he was a past Gold Glove winner). Let's see how many runs are driven in by, and scored by the 6, 7, 8 and 9 hitters tonight. And also, how well Pillar, Barney, Pennington and Goins do on defense; a run saved is just as important as a run scored.
  9. Devon Travis and Troy Tulowitzki are two different players (physically and in playing style) There is another thread for Troy Tulowitzki - http://www.bluejaysmessageboard.com/threads/5433-Pray4Tulo-thread/page15, not that it matters, just saying
  10. Some good news for Devon Travis. (source: http://www.torontosun.com/2015/09/24/tulowitzki-could-be-back-soon-gibbons-says) . . . TRAVIS SURGERY Second baseman Devon Travis underwent exploratory surgery on his left shoulder on Wednesday that revealed no structural damage. The Blue Jays expect him to be back to full strength for spring training in February. During the procedure, a cyst in the joint was drained, but there appeared to be no other obvious reason for the discomfort that has kept the rookie sidelined since the end of July. The shoulder was also cleaned up. The injury had its genesis in a hard ground ball that struck Travis on the collarbone in May, causing a deep bone bruise. He missed more than a month at that time, then went back on the disabled list in July and never returned, though he spent a lot of time trying to rehab the injury. . . .
  11. Here are a couple of stories to confirm the information that you posted. Gibbons even indicated that it might be as early as the Baltimore series: http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb/blue-jays-john-gibbons-says-troy-tulowitzki-return-possible-vs-orioles-or-rays/ http://www.torontosun.com/2015/09/24/tulowitzki-could-be-back-soon-gibbons-says
  12. Kansas is still scoring runs and extending this game's predictable outcome. Can't wait until tomorrow when the Blue Jays play in the only MLB game that I am interested in. At this point of the season the Blue Jays shouldn't hope for any help from teams out of contention.
  13. The Royals are up 5-3 now. Mariners probably want to get the game over with as soon as possible so they can get into the clubhouse and play poker.
  14. Baltimore will score runs just because they can without even trying. Luckily the Rays probably won't score much but they might keep the score close.
  15. I think the Blue Jays will play better against the Rays. Against the White Sox it would be like last year and the Blue Jays might lose out of boredom.
  16. Yes. The Blue Jays need to go all out to beat the Rays 3 out of 3 this weekend. The White Sox probably won't do much against the Yankees.
  17. Thankfully the Blue Jays don't have to play the White Sox. Even die hard fans would have a tough time getting excited for such games. The Yankees/White Sox is so boring.
  18. Maybe Seattle can beat Kansas City. The Mariners are leading 3-2 at this time - http://mlb.mlb.com/mlb/gameday/index.jsp?gid=2015_09_24_seamlb_kcamlb_1#game=2015_09_24_seamlb_kcamlb_1,game_state=Live
  19. Watching the Yankees/White Sox game, it is hard to imagine the White Sox helping the Blue Jays this weekend. The Blue Jays need to hope for at least 2 out of 3 against the Tampa Bay Rays this weekend, even then the Yankees might gain 1 & 1/2 games playing Chicago. However, I think the Yankees/Red Sox series starting Monday will be a challenge for the Yankees. I think the best that one can hope for from the White Sox is that the Yankees will be lulled to sleep.
  20. The win tonight was so much sweeter after the bitter loss last night. The Blue Jays have two bona fide pitching ace's.
  21. Good fans. Call JD MVP after his AB.
  22. Pillar is going to be a multi year All Star.
  23. Will Cecil be available in the 8th?
  24. What is Revere's BABIP when he hits a fly ball? It seems like 0.000.
