  1. Barney would have been a better choice. There must be something wrong with Martin's health otherwise he would have played the entire game.
  2. It is difficult to defend Goins batting in that situation but it just indicates how bad Martin has been. Martin has almost a 50% strike out percentage.
  3. I no longer listen to Zaun. Now that Zaun is an analyst he knows everything; it is too sickening for me. Zaun must have been a superstar (sarcasm).
  4. Then it would have been 1 out and a runner on second. A sac fly or ground ball wouldn't score a runner on second and Cecil wouldn't have as much pressure.
  5. As far as pinch hitting Martin for Goins, Martin is swinging like a 60 year old man and shouldn't pinch hit for anyone.
  6. Smoak set up that inning. I PVR'ed the game and replayed that play a few times. Smoak backed up on a weak dribbler; there is no way that Donaldson, Tulowitzki or Goins would have backed up on that. This is typical Blue Jays baseball. Sometimes players just take innings off.
  7. The line-up for today's game is posted. The game starts at 6:10 pm. The 1 through 7 hitters in the line-up can all drive the ball hard, and if Thole and Goins get on base then that is a bonus. Who knows, maybe Goins will start producing again at close to league average like the second half of 2015. Thole has been hitting better than Martin.
  8. Brett Cecil pitched very well today.
  9. Although Donaldson was surely talking about hitters, the player that could help the Blue Jays the most would be Sanchez by going back to the bullpen. As long as the Blue Jays have a weak bullpen then 2016 will continue to be like April - July 2015.
  10. So it has only been 2 days since Colabello's suspension and it seems like he has already been forgotten - that's life.
  11. Google translation: (paraphrased) We are going to kick the ass of those damned Athletics. Is this the right translation? I agree with the sentiment.
  12. I am looking forward to seeing Drew Hutchison pitch. The lineup looks good for a win if Hutchison has a half decent outing. I hope that Carrera will have another good day. It is good to see Goins getting some time off - it might even be good to give him a couple of days off.
  13. I was at the game today - it was a great show. I am always impressed by the Rogers Centre, it is without question an engineering marvel. The dirt infield looks good and so does the new artificial turf (as of 2015) as compared to a couple of years ago. Tulowitzki, Donaldson and Carrera had great games. Goins is solid defensively but I think he needs at least a game off each week, the same as other regulars get; maybe some rest would help Goins make harder contact when hitting.
  14. Your thought of the day? Apparently English wasn't one of your strong subjects.
  15. Or when Goins hits it well it is directly to an outfielder.
  16. I am at the game in the 200 level along 3rd base line. It is a great seat and free. How does Goins always manage to hit ground balls directly to someone.
  17. I am looking forward to Travis coming back; he is a high energy player like a Donaldson. Although Darwin Barney won a gold glove at 2B, Barney looks slow and weak-armed compared to Goins, so I expect Barney to be DFA'ed when Travis returns. If only Goins could hit like Travis then Goins would be an all-star.
  18. Yesterdays game with Sanchez against A's changed my opinion of Sanchez; prior to that I was impressed by Sanchez. In the interview after the game he brought up the fact that double plays weren't made, however, in reality Sanchez needed double plays because he put so many hitters on base. Sanchez's sourpuss face is really starting to annoy me. With Colabello being suspended, it makes me wonder how Sanchez was able to add 25 pounds of muscle to his body in 4 short months; it can be done naturally through hard work but usually not within 4 months.
  19. Watching the Blue Jays is frustrating again. I wonder how long Russell Martin will be out with back spasms. Probably several games. I can see that Ryan Goins will never be a productive hitter.
  20. Who is that? Pillar is getting hot.
  21. If he really used PED's then I can't feel bad for him. He got his 15 minutes of fame and $500,000 last year and now he can probably play in Korea eventually for $1 million as he could have last year.
  22. This is the PED. Since it includes the word testosterone, I assume it helps with ones physique and strength
  23. This seems like the expansion Expos in the early 1970's - but the Expos won some games back then, so there is a chance.
  24. This may have had an effect on the entire team's performance. Many players probably were shocked by the ongoing appeal and saddened by the possibility of a suspension.
  25. Anything is possible, unfortunately not many players caught taking PED's seem to come right out and admit it. It is good that Pillar is being a friend to Colabello during such a tough time.
