  1. But I am worried that 8 isn't enough. Got to get Saunders in.
  2. Nice work JD. Made sure you got one.
  3. I will feel sick if JD hits into a DP.
  4. Russell Martin seems to have that same very serious, scolding look. Maybe Martin will be a manager someday, he has the baseball knowledge and stern look.
  5. Good work by the Blue Jays to only give up 1 run.
  6. Certainly better than today's lineup with no Bautista or Martin.
  7. Blue Jays will need to be good to get these hitters out.
  8. Carrera is a good player this year.
  9. I think it would be entertaining to have JPA back.
  10. Jays were fortunate to get out of the inning tied. Barney, Goins and Thole need career days ( a couple hits each).
  11. The Blue Jays need at least 2 more to win.
  12. Good pitch that made Pillar look bad.
  13. Goins needs to show that he can hit to the opposite field.
  14. Good to see that Happ has great control today. Now if only the Blue can get 4 or 5 runs.

    NHL Thread

I completely agree, you gave a good assessment of the changes over the decades. The NHL is much better today, but in my opinion, the old-time 1970's and 1980's hockey was much more entertaining. I think that NHL players have become so good defensively (including better strategy) that the NHL should start playing entire games with only 4 skaters (as they do in regular season overtime). As good as the NHL players have become, the games have become more boring. PS: Another difference is with skates, modern skates are built for speed whereas skates in the 1970's seemed very awkward in comparison. Even the sharpening of skates has become more consistent.

    NHL Thread

This is a video clip of the greatest comeback in NHL playoff history back in 1982. The LA Kings were down 5 - 0 to Wayne Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers after the end of the 2nd period but came back to win 6 - 5 in overtime. The NHL seemed much slower back then, but for some reason the games seemed more entertaining than today. The NHL had some very ugly jerseys back then.
  17. Thank you Edwin. A very entertaining game.
  18. Incredible image, and not the least bit offensive.
