  1. Yes, both were head shakers. Also Martin not getting the fairly easy tag down (by just dropping his glove in front of the plate) cost a run. The Blue Jays needed to be almost perfect in the field, but it is conceivable that they could have been up by a run going into the bottom of the 9th.
  2. Good inning by Storen; didn't allow the leadoff double to score.
  3. White Sox are wearing pajamas today.
  4. How was Martin fooled on that strike 3. It was the 3rd fastball in the same location.
  5. Another great game by the Blue Jays. It is fun to watch the Blue Jays again.
  6. The Blue Jays are playing great baseball. Who would have thought they would go 10 - 3 after losing 3 straight to Tampa in Toronto. I think Barney and Travis have helped turned the team around, but also Smoak and Martin have made big contributions. And of course the starting pitching and bullpen have been good. We will know how good the Blue Jays are when they go into Boston on the weekend; although 2 out of 3 would be good, I just hope that they will play well and at least get one win.
  7. I get frustrated when I hear talk about BABIP and how it will regress to 0.300. I previously posted a link (a year ago) where the author shows that BABIP is much higher for line drive hitters than ground ball hitters. Barney has been hitting line drives instead of seeing-eye ground balls (ground balls are more a matter of chance and infield alignment). Although this doesn't relate to Barney's case, home run hitters BABIP excludes home runs, so BABIP can't be considered to be a fair correlation for home run hitters. If one wants to correlate BABIP to batting average then BABIP should be grouped into BABIP for predominantly ground ball hitters, BABIP for line drive hitters, and adjusted BABIP for all hitters to include home runs.
  8. The Blue Jays now have a record of 27-26, one game over .500. Last year after 53 games (after the first game of the Washington doubleheader) they were 23-30, seven games under .500 - http://mlb.mlb.com/news/boxscore.jsp?gid=2015_06_02_tormlb_wasmlb_1
  9. Bullpen has to make the game interesting.
  10. Wish the Blue Jays would have gotten that 5th run.
  11. I keep thinking that Goins has some hitting potential but has a tough time self-motivating.
  12. Ryan Goins is putting on weight; that's not good for an infielder and light hitting hitter.
  13. Here is a link to the lineups - http://www.rotowire.com/baseball/boxscore.htm?gid=1599017
  14. Here is a picture of the hideous outfits.
  15. I like the NESN broadcast. It seems like baseball broadcasts when I was young in Nova Scotia and considered baseball to be boring.
  16. Bautista is leading off. Devon Travis is in the 5th spot in the batting order, taking Saunders spot for the day.
  17. I think Donaldson was trying to protect Travis who was being mobbed. I assume Donaldson didn't want Travis back on the DL.
  18. I am a believer in Devon Travis now, my apologies for all my dumb remarks last year about the Blue Jays doing better with Goins at 2B. Good bye Goins, hello Travis.
  19. Will every Blue Jay hitter be swinging for the fences, if they are, I hope it will be on balls they can hit.
  20. 8 -8, will this be another heartbreaker or a turning point.
