  1. You'll get more defence in the outfield when he replaces Bautista, i'm not convinced he's even a worse hitter than Smoakabello and there is future value in getting Pompey PT
  2. yeah, its not ideal but i have no faith in Colabello and Smoak.
  3. You can get Pompey plenty of at bats if you rotate Bautista and Saunders at DH. He doesn't have a lot to learn in AAA, he needs major league at bats even if he's not playing everyday.
  4. Calling up Pompey and rotating Bautista and Saunders at DH would be the right thing to do but probably won't happen.
  5. i guess i wasn't paying proper attention, i didn't notice it was that deep and he seemed to swing at a high pitch
  6. common Tulo, Moore can't make a pitch to save his life and you choose that junk to swing at?
  7. Moore doesn't have it, he hasn't hit his target two pitches in a row this inning
  8. Seems like JD took offence to those predicting Correiea or Betts for AL MVP
  9. can we keep these pathetic grievances out of the baseball section of things please? No one gives a s*** about how the muslims and the feminists are out to get you.
  10. Its not reviewable by the managers but the umpires can do it if flopping did become more of an issue, that's what happened today right? And there will probably be a rule change anyways giving managers that right too if there was a real trend towards flopping.
  11. um, trying to take out the fielders legs underneath him with your hands is a safety thing. Besides it doesn't matter, interference is interference and that's how it's always been. Look at interference calls when a base runners obstructs the baseball and prevents a play from being made, it doesn't matter whether the interference was completely responsible for a botched play or only partially responsible, its still interference.
  12. Can't think of any specific but i'm really sure it happened, where a double play was assumed due to interference.
  13. no, that's what we have replays for, flopping can be punished in real time. If a team feels like the infielder faked the contact they can simply ask for a replay. They don't have that in Soccer and flopping is only enforced after the game in Basketball, not in realtime.
  14. no true, i can remember a couple of double plays that went in our favor because of interference calls before the Utley/Tejada play. Baseball has teightened up the contact rules on slides for a couple of years now. and they've been enforced fairly strictly. If you notice Bautista didn't protest in any way when teh call was made, he knew he f***ed up.
  15. lol, using your hands to take out a players legs underneath him when the fielder was nowhere near the base has never been a part of baseball
  16. yeah, hard slides are still allowed and legal, as long as you're sliding directly into the base and you don't over slide in an attempt to take out the fielder who is well behind the base
  17. You can only "take out" the defensive player if you're sliding straight into the base, that's not what Jose did. Most interference calls are made when the runner slides into a fielder who isn't close to the base, but this time Jose did with his hand instead of with his feet, it was still interference.
  18. This has nothing to do with the new sliding rule. Its just plain old interference and its being called this way for a couple of years. Jose should have known about the new standards for sliding are, this is 100% on him. Ofcourse its possible he didn't mean to stick his arm out.
  19. he did reach out, maybe not intentionally but his arm did hit the fielder's leg and it wasn't close to the bag.
  20. Its true that Bautista's slide probably had nothing to do with the bad throw but he did break the rules, he deserves all the blame here.
  21. Its a fair call though, Bautista shouldn't have dicked around knowing how strict MLB has been about slides recently.
  22. oh god, i'm gonna be sick if this gets overturned
  23. s***, that could be overturned into a double play
