  1. Tellez is quietly off to a pretty impressive start. The top line doesn't dazzle you but 3 K's in 39 plate appearances is pretty great. That and the 9 BB's and .180 iso suggest that he's just having BABIP problems.
  2. Definately A, better defence and not much of a downgrade offensively, if at all. Steamer projects 93 wRC+ for Pompey, is that much worse than Smoakabello? Not to mention the value gained from freeing up a roster spot
  3. Its interesting, he seems to be changing his approach when playing in the bigs. The K's go way up which is expected, the walks go down but he also shows power potential, .165 iso in 146 PA's.
  4. That was a pretty good 3-2 pitch, you can live with walks like that
  5. he's locating the 4 seamer really well, the 2 seamer not as much
  6. Sanchez doesn't have that great of a command right now and he's still so effective
  7. That 1-1 curveball was impressive
  8. If Bautista wasn't such a diva, him splitting time with EE at 1B and Pompey in the OF would be the obvious solution. Forget 1B, i think he would threw a fit if we asked him to split time at DH with Saunders and EE playing 1B, he still thinks he's a very good outfielder.
  9. Just looked at the numbers, NL pitchers have a higher average, iso, a better K rate and better overall production. Smoakabello have drawn more walks
  10. Him and Smoak are now 2-34, 4 BB, 0 XBH, 18 K I honestly don't think the Jays even see a problem. Gibbons probably thinks they're both good reliable hitters even though Colabello had one fluke year and SMoak has never been anything but useless
  11. The most infuriating thing about Smoakebello is it probably doesn't end anytime soon. combined they're hitting 2-34, 4 BB, 0 XBH, 18 K
  12. We all want to see Jays prospects succeed but you can learn a lot about someone's potential from what looks like a small sample size. LIke others have said, unless you have an exceptional pedigree, you've got to produce results right away to be the guy that overcomes the odds.
  13. A good front office and player development make can a difference on the margins but it probably can't help guys like Harris, an old college pitcher who doesn't have great raw stuff and isn't producing results despite the advanced experience. I know you're not saying that but this is gonna be a trend among fans if Sanchez continues to do well. We'll ignore everything we know about prospects and just use Sanchez to criticize sceptics of prospects who never produce results.
  14. He might not be better than Pillar but yes Pompey is a legit CF, people make way too much of a couple of misplays
  15. You're supposed to give your "future" a chance, what better time than now?
  16. Montero is basically Smoak without the switch hitting, projects for them are almost identical. No thanks, give Pompey a chance and don't f*** with him, let him play though a cold steak or two
  17. Yes please, would rather have Pompey fail then those two bums. At the least, we'll be a better defensive team
  18. Smoak and Colabello with a combined 50‰ k rate, have exactly zero extra base hits to show for it
  19. Obligatory Smoakabello update, 2-31, 4 BB, 0 XBH, 17 K
  20. Of course we have to have this bum at this crucial spot
  21. Smoakabello update 2-29, 4 BB and 0 XBH
  22. nothing is certain with these things but yes Harris a bust.
  23. to be fair Goins swung at a shoulder high pitch and managed to connect
  24. Just general incompetence on their part
  25. Storen at 92mph is useless, should be relegated to lower leverage situations against righties only until the velocity comes back
