  1. It is. You see moogy money that Rogers doesn't have to pay Martin now and pay in later years can be used to finance Rogers operations. There for the inflation % is the wrong number but Rogers WACC is the right number which I think is around 10% ( investor return expectations ) N don't call me charlie
  2. The time value of money principle dictates that money today is worth more than money tomorrow. By back loading contracts AA is generating huge savings for the organization
  3. Whitesox just signed Zach Duke
  4. I always felt jays were foolish and short with Jose Molina. I rememeber back in 09/10 how much better Morrow, Romero, Cecil would pitch with Jose Molina vs. JPA or John Buck. This confirms it.
  5. This makes a lot of sense to me. How do they determine how one catcher gets a strike call over another. Like whats the mechanism behind differentiation.
  6. Yes but by all in, Free agency. Dont touch prospects, spend whatever. This team doesn't have very many future obligations.
  7. A lot of things went poorly for him, for example, losing Mcgowan and Marcum in the same year when the team was getting really good. That was just unfortunate. No team can survive with losing two young starters both of whom were looking like they were going to be above average. Just look at the Rays last year.
  8. His declining years are going to be worth more than the $20M that he will be paid during those years. His bat can decline all it wants, pitch framing is an art that isn't dependent upon age or conditioning. Even if in 2017/2018/2019 his bat goes into a decline, he will still be a great catcher, and his WAR alone from his pitch framing skills will offset the cost
  9. Which in particular?
  10. Not sure if you were actually paying attention to the JP Era, but no he didn't. Also his decisions were not bad at all, they just didn't pan out. For example the Burnett signing was a great signing, Burnett was worth 10.7 WAR in the 3 years he was here. An absolutely great signing. JP was a victim of a time when Yankees and Redsox were on a high and could spent whatever they wanted. In todays time, JP's teams would easily go the playoffs
  11. Yes lets rebuild around some future DH Candidates DHs are the easiest spot to fill in MLB and ideal for aging veterans who can still hit. I suggest we trade Bautista for a future DH Prospect.
  12. AA has been quite decent as of late, I think based on Martin only earning 7Million next year, he has got other moves in mind. In Melky's case he may just be waiting for Melky to return to his price range. Melky will go out into the market and maybe realize that the Jays offer of 3/39 is the best that he can do. I would love to have Melky back at say 3/42 or maybe 3/39 with an option.
  13. AA has a few trade pieces left over. I rather Melky than for example signing Andrew Miller. Big money for Relievers is terrible. Bullpen pieces should be young and obtained via trade. I don`t want the whole BJ Ryan thing again. Melky is a proven commodity, we all know what we are getting
  14. Please update
  15. Resign Melky 3 year - 45 Million Don`t mess with good things. Bring back the top 4 offense,
  16. I wish we could neg on this forum, or unlike
  17. So Stanton now has zero monetary gain from performing well in his career. It's all on how badly he wants to win. Other than that he can pretty much pack it in and enjoy a multi multi millionaire life in Florida
  18. Some Canadian Martin is. How about coming home?
  19. ^ vmart was not the answer. Melky and Martin are the answers we need
  20. Americans playing in Canada are non residents for tax purposes as most spend less than 100 days in Canada ( away games )
  21. They do if they can offload Burly, anyways its a moot point, we all know they wont be in the market for Martin. He will get a lot more money than AA will be willing to offer.
  22. ^ I dont think he is the only one with that opinion. Keith Law feels the same way. Actual playtime will tell.
  23. That 13 year deal is atrocious for professional sports. Its virtually borrowing from tomorrow to pay for today, I like Stanton, but if he is getting that then what will the best player in baseball Trout get, $500 Million. Where does it stop?
  24. Zobrist is an amazing asset, Put him anywhere and get that production.
