  1. Gibby on Jays talk about Hutch struggles "It's really a mystery" Really tells you everything you need to know about Jays management
  2. I got a bad feeling about Dickey today
  3. The team can definitely contend without edwin and Bautista Looked at Edwin's numbers lately? An offensive core made up of Reyes Travis Donaldson Martin Smoak along with 1 or 2 good hitters is enough Good offense means more 6-2 games. But really you just need to win 4-2 if you have good pitching. We aren't just talking about 2015. Anyone who thinks the Jays 1 game over .500 are contending is dilusiinal. Bautista is also near his end. He is breaking down physically along with a decrease in power. If we wait till 2016 we will get nothing for them. What are our pitching assets then? We would all hope Norris and Hoffman become great starters but lets be realistic not every prospect will be a home run. The more young arms the Jays have now the greater the likelihood of their success in the second part of this decade So what if the Jays win 83 84 games this year. Nothings changed. Would you rather they win 84 keeling Jose and edwin or 76 games but have 2 or 3 more young arms going into next year who can be front line starters
  4. Sigh at Navarro at bats
  5. Christ I wouldnt take shields for his contract alone now
  6. For now. Yankees pitching is far superior. They actually have good mlb starters
  7. Offense doesn't win games. Pitching and defense does. Offense is highly variable one day you get 8 runs another day 2. Good pitching is much more consistent. The key to winning is start with the pitching then add to the offense to improve it as much as possible. The key to mediocrity is to acquire expensive offensive players and then duct tape the pitching and defense and depth We have been medioacre for a very long time
  8. But he will my lad. He will until his average is down to .250 and perhaps even then as Gibby calls him clutch
  9. One starter is not going to save this team. It will be the difference between finishing 7 games out and 5 games out. Please no prospect trades
  10. Bautista Encarnacion and Such should be traded this year for young mlb ready controllable pitching. This and this alone is the way to Jays Salvation.
  11. Osuna should be put in a position to start next year. An arm like that should not be wasted in the bullpen.
  12. The biggest risk is that we could be tapering of what could have been a lift off season for Smoak, Colabello may be the worst thing to happen to the Jays this season. Given his BABIP, it might be all down hill from here. With a normal BABIP what is he a .260 or .270 hitter, maybe .750 OPS. He will get to those numbers, but as he approaches those numbers it will be painful to watch.
  13. Honestly at this point does it even matter. There are people talking about Gibbons using Goins as a defensive replacement, or changing the way he deal with his starters, or making better lineup decision. He isn't going to change after a thousand games a managing.
  14. Another important note is that despite the fact that Reyes was the last to bat, and Goins was already in the game, he did not replace Reyes at short. Makes you wonder though,
  15. I am surprised Pete Walker still has a job. These guys start games with absoloutely no plan whatsover. Whether its Hutch, or Sanchez, or Boyd or Dickey. They get crushed early on, however the early parts of the game are where Walker's plan should be the most apparent.
  16. ^ Look Boxcar and such have a very good point. Hutch has not been the problem, and has been unlucky as well. He is still a good no.3, but two no.3s and three replacement starters do not make a contender.
  17. I didn't flame on Gibbons, though, I am done flaming. I would get upset if I still thought this was a contending team, but in many ways, I have faced the facts of what this team really is rather than hoping for what I wished it would be.
  18. This loss isn't on Gibby or Osuna or anyone. Even the offense that scored 6 runs. These losses expose the Jays for what they really are, an elite offense with below average pitching and major holes on defense. Nothing more. Contenders are built from pitching out, you cant just mix and match players and hope for the best. The thing of it is that AA never knew how to build a winning team. He is good at some things, among those making good trades (Ironic) and acquiring elite talent. However he is terrible at knowing how to construct a proper contending club. This will not get better. Just project the pitching, some things may get better, the bullpen will. Hutch will. However outside of that there is little hope for improvement.
  19. Its honestly not Jays have an elite offense and nothing more.
  20. He might be below replacement from here on out.
  21. What makes you think Gibby is capable of changing now and why would he. He has gotten to be the manager of the Jays by keeping the team medioacre why would he change now
  22. Why the f*** do we need to overload the offense to such a degree. Are we that desperate for offense?
