Don’t underestimate Baltimore. They have a deadly closer and solid pitching all around. Hard throwing right handers who will dominate the Jays all righty line up (low and away). I’m expecting them to blow past Toronto in September. Remember Jays play Baltimore 10 times and my prediction is 3-7 or 4-6 record at best. Jays need a more balanced lineup which will need to wait the off season at this point.
Agreed. This team is just not good enough. Jays have 1.5 starting pitchers with Manoah on a pitch limit. I would just let Berrios pitch 6 innings and give up 10 runs, need to save the bullpen for tmrw.
Just praying that TB loses on the road to MIL. This is all the more painful that it will be 5-0 against us after 2 or 3 innings in tmrws game. This was the game to win but oh well. Baltimore is better but I do hope they cool off at some point like before next week.
I’m talking about some less known names. Something must have been available somewhere JBJ from Boston ? It’s a clear disadvantage to have 0 impactful bats hitting from the left side. Teams with hard throwing right handed relief pitchers throwing sliders away have no trouble dealing with this lineup. This and Berrios sucking (or more generally the lack of starting depth) really mean that this is not our year. Heck, my guess is that Baltimore passes us in the standings. Hope that I’m wrong though.
The lack of left handed power is another massive hole, not addressed at the deadline. Like was Merriweather the best outfield depth available ? There were no leftie hitters available of any kind ? ItÂ’s not hard to upgrade over Biggio and even that Atkins failed. It had better be addressed in the off season.
No it’s not. Lineup is too right handed, champion ship teams have balance. In playoffs against elite pitching, this lineup will be easily neutralized. It was the same in 2016, too many of the same type of hitter.
