The point is there are far more quality options via trade than the current free agent pool.

There's various options from this list: https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?month=0&pos=all&type=8&stats=rel&pagenum=1&pageitems=30&sortcol=12&sortdir=default Not all CL's by trade, but high leverage arms who are more than capable of closing out games if given the chance. Any one of those guys could be made available for the right price.

They would have a ton of positional depth to trade for a closer.

His plate discipline is pretty advanced, I don't think it'll be as big of a learning curve for him, but we'll see.

I think there's a better chance of Imai signing with the Giants or Angels than the Yankees.

I wonder what it would take to get Ronny Henriquez from the Marlins? He looks like someone that could dominate the 9th inning as a full time CL.

Forget it. He's another baserunning liability who's never had more than 3 stolen bases in a single season.

Why? That's a rather modest expectation for this offseason, especially with all the expiring contracts a year from now (payroll shouldn't be an issue).

I know it's a stretch, but if they can somehow acquire Alcantara from the Cubs, he would be the perfect replacement for DV (assuming he's gone).

Difficult, but not impossible. Roger Clemens had an 8.8 WAR in 1986 - at 23.

He pitched like a 10-year vet with two cy young's under his belt in the postseason. It's a safe bet.
