  1. He doesn't strike me as a GM personality at all, which is probably why he declined the Orioles and why he's still kicking around in the same position.
  2. Who was that woman reporter? Totally obvious she knew nothing about baseball: "Hey, are you going to sign David Price?", its like she spent 10 minutes reading over the narratives before the press conference started.
  3. He is named INTERIM GM. While it wouldn't surprise me if he stuck, this point needs to be addressed.
  4. Except for the time he let Bautista hit a game-tying HR off Madson with Wade Davis standing around in the bullpen....
  5. Danny Salazar is 6-feet, 185 pounds. He's actually significantly less muscular than Stroman, which would make him an even bigger threat to "wear down". And its not "analytics" which suggest that smaller pitchers won't last as starters. That is purely traditional "scouting". Analytics tell you that if a guy puts up the required metrics, it doesn't matter if he's 5'7 or 6'7. It is traditional scouting which is enamored with "tall, strong pitchers", or "guys that look like athletes", etc.
  6. Indians fans can't seem to understand that when your team is bottom 5 in payroll, you aren't very likely to be competing for championships or even the playoffs on a year-to-year basis.
  7. Yup. It is a giant stretch of imagination to come to that conclusion. If they wanted someone to reduce payroll, then why show any interest in Kenny Williams who has had some of the highest payrolls in the league during his time with the White Sox? They wanted Shapiro because he is an accomplished, experienced, and highly regarded executive.
  8. His stock will never be higher. Its pretty good timing if he wants to cash out on this wave of success.
  9. Atkins interviewed for the Angels GM job a month ago. A pitcher for Cleveland from 1995 to 1999 (LINK), Atkins was named the director of player development for the Indians in 2006, after having served as the director of Latin American operations for three years prior. In his development role, he oversaw all aspects of player development, including Cleveland's six minor-league affiliates, as well as their Latin American program in the Dominican Republic. In 2014, Atkins was promoted to VP of player personnel. All in all, Ross Atkins has been a part of the Indians organization for over 15 years. He has also received praise from Cleveland's GM Chris Antonetti, who sees him as a future GM candidate. Well, the future is now, apparently.
  10. None of this matters, seriously. You think the White Sox didn't have an inkling of thought that Melky Cabrera might tank before they threw $40 million at him? To no one's surprise he was worth -0.3 WAR this season. $30-40 million over a 3 year commitment isn't much to a team that is feeling the pressure to compete. Every team in the league needs pitching; at worst you get a #5 starter out of Estrada with the hopes that he's found more in the tank and maybe he's able to outperform his projections for a year or two like he has this season. This guy has had good seasons in the past and he's now also shown that he's not going to fall apart emotionally under pressure.
  11. Of course he'd decline. This guy is 32 and coming off an absurd year; he's not going to be banking on taking $16 million over 1 year when he'll pretty easily get a $30-40 million contract that will let him comfortably ride out his career worry free. I'm sure his agent is well aware that he's playing in a launching-pad stadium and that it would therefore be stupid for him to get greedy and risk trying to repeat what he's done this year in hopes of cashing out again after 2016.
  12. He was confused because he literally said that Price was starting game 6 like a minute before that question. Then the idiot reporter asks him who's starting game 6 LOL.
  13. Still think this? Someone will give him a ~3 year $30 million deal minimum. You have to QO him at this point, which is good because that means we're at least getting a pick for him if we don't resign him ourselves.
  14. Its deception. The eyes play tricks on you when the ball comes out of his release point.
  15. Every single LOOGY vs. LHB: Breaking ball, breaking ball, breaking ball. Price vs. LHB: Changeup, changeup, changeup. How stupid do you have to be?
  16. Price blows dick. Cant get a f***ing LHB out. f*** out of here LOL.
  17. Pitching a great game means nothing if you implode at the critical point. He imploded.
  18. Yes, Price. One guy gets on and he implodes. Cant' finish a LHB to save his life. Still thinks he can just throw changeups to them (WTF?)
  19. There's that sick Price vs. LHB matchup. Changeup, Changeup, Changeup....
  20. I dont watch hockey, but nice try. Price is a two-pitch pitcher who isn't fooling anyone right now. Isn't putting batters away. Letting left-handed hitters smack him around. Spent his entire career with zero pressure playing in Tampa with 50 people in the stands, and his results have been well below his expectation with the lights turned up a thousand fold in the playoffs. Excuse me if I am worried about how he looks poor in the postseason, which is nothing new for him. You ever watch postseason baseball? I've seen St. Louis barely make the playoffs and then go on to look unstoppable in post-season play. It is a complete toss-up.
  21. Playoff baseball is a completely different animal. What do you want, to wait for 1500 playoff IP before you can make a conclusive decision as to whether or not he can handle the spotlight? You can't do it.
  22. Don't take Sanchez out now. They were squaring up Osuna last night. Sanchez has looked nasty these past ~4 batters.
  23. 3 hits to LHB for Price. His approach is inexcusable.
  24. Another hit off a LHB for Price. Like I said, spin a f***ing breaking ball or two in there. It is absurd. Fastball/Changeup makes no sense against a LHB.
