    Since moving up to no. 2 in the batting order, in 23 games he’s hitting .295/.361/.591, OPS .952 and 151 wRC+ 151 wRC+ is outstanding and the game is starting to slow down for him, and the great thing is he’s still nowhere close to his ceiling. He’s playing a decent 3B which is a good sign. Still hitting way more balls into the ground compared to his time in the minors and we haven’t seen him really go on one of those crazy hot streaks yet. He should finish the year close to 120-130 wRC+ and maybe 20-25 homers, he could easily run into 10 in a month with those exit velos

    I understand there’s potentially a verbal agreement in place, I’m just saying mathematically everything checks out and everyone seems signable given the 7th and 8th pick senior guys take a massive haircut and a few trimmings in other places (like pick #3). And just noting that they wouldn’t have went with Clarke and Santiago in 9 & 10 if draft money was an issue at all, which signals to me that Kendall Williams is most likely already a done deal.

    I noted briefly last night on the podcast recording, Will Robertson is the highest drafted Creighton player in 25 years since 1994. He also has the most home runs in college out of all the bats we drafted this year with 15+. That’s pretty impressive considering we took a bunch of cape cod league standouts that also had a great draft year, like most of them were putting terrific 300/400/500 type numbers in college and Robertson had the most dingers. Reports say he carries plus raw power. He profiles similarly to Griffin Conine with maybe less arm in RF, also a higher K% type hitter. I think guys to really watch out for include Cameron Eden and Tanner Morris, both can hit and Eden has speed and a CF glove on top of that.

    I’m thinking they would’ve continued to grab seniors in the 9th and 10th round if they are having draft pool issues signing Kendall Williams. The fact they went after Clarke in the 9th and a HS guy in Puerto Rico for 10th means they likely have all the finances figured out. I also did the math yesterday. If Kendall Williams signs anywhere between 1.8-2.5 Mill we should be just fine (his slot is @1.4M). With the 5% overdraft allowance, there should be plenty of money left for Clarke. He was projected @160 in Baseball America top 500, so if he signs for around 4 to 6th round slot money, it’s definitely within budget.

    This feels like one of those “behind the scene episodes that should never be posted for public viewing” that guys post for their patreon supporters just for a good laugh. We literally had half an episode of complaining about Home Depot, and then a Alan turns around and goes makes an expensive purchase, his dream kickass lawn mower that cost half a monthly mortgage payment on live broadcast. I also died when Alan started belching.

    This thread is off to a great start. I won’t be home to follow the draft the whole day, hope we grab more hidden gems. For some odd reason we always grab a decent guy at round 15.

    No. Seniors drafted in the first 10 rounds are counted towards the cap, hence why we grabbed seniors in round 7 and 8 to help pay for Kendall Williams. (@350-400K pool allocation) 125k and over rule is for round 11-40 so teams don’t cheat the draft by being too cute with predraft deals. You could pay everybody in round 11-40, 100k but no team ever does that. Guys that fall that far generally are happy to just be drafted. There are draft success stories like Albert Pujols but they’re few and far between. This is a very, very big deal. For a bunch of guys working, min wage and 12 hour work days, 8 months a year, this significantly improves their quality of life. Minor leagues is a grind, guys often have to work part time jobs in the offseason just to pay rent while chasing their MLB dreams. 30-50% increase means they can eat better, sleep better, get better equipment, etc.

    Some scouting reports indicate his changeup flashes plus and had good tumbling action so there's some hope, he hasn't needed to use it much but the Jays seem optimistic about his chances sticking in the rotation. I really doubt a guy can dominate college baseball and become a golden spikes semi-finalist with just two working pitches, unless those two are absolutely filthy (65+ grade offerings). Div-I Big-12 is not a weak conference either. There's a reasonable amount of upside to Manoah despite being a college junior because he was mostly a bullpen arm the first two years, there's probably more room for development than your typical college 3 year SP.

    Angel Camacho, Jacksonville U senior 6-3, 200lbs. 3B/1B, "plus-plus makeup", possible 1B guy, moved to 3B recently. another infield bat with great numbers in senior year, .321/.412/.489, OPS.901 Another great plate discipline guy with good K/BB ratios 25/31. Hit 10 homers. had a 33 game on-base streak, bat first guy. Video:
