  1. In Gibby's defense, this game wouldn't be as big if either of those guys succeeded at work last night.
  2. Spank I'll have a beer with you at a 2017 game. I tried to meet up with BigC this season but haven't been able to make it to series when he flies in.
  3. So hit him 8th and Zeke 9th. I don't see the logic of batting the 5th OF lead off when necessity forces him into the lineup, especially when the guy drawing up the lineup previously used Jose Bautista in that role for like half the season. With a lineup made that much deeper with Travis back, even not at 100%, you don't need to pad out the top of it for the meat of the order.
  4. Travis is back but hitting 9th but Carrera 1st? Gibbons, pack your s*** and go. It's like he's completely unaware how tough the O's pen is. Give your guys as many opportunities as possible to bomb them.
  5. What is any of this? If you don't agree that a yo-yo RP will cause trouble then you shouldn't be complaining about using Osuna in any particular situation. The win expectancy with a four-run lead drops if Tepera walks two guys to lead off the inning, which isn't a ridiculous proposition because he's awful, and then you have to use Osuna anyway to clean up the mess. Expectancy for the Wild Card standings has way more variables and can't go wrong so quickly, but it isn't exactly stable either. I'm not comfortable with a "90%" Wild Card chance considering the Tigers get the Braves and the O's get the Yankees (and the Mariners get the A's FWIW) while the Jays get the Sox. That's why I think nailing down that 4-run lead was important, to get that win, and then deal with tomorrow as it comes. I'm not as confident in a playoff spot as you seem to think I am.
  6. I'm fine with him on the bench too. The problem with using Navarro is that it wasn't exactly the #9 slot hitter he was replacing -- it's that he was replacing a guy who couldn't be trusted to hit in that situation who was hitting #1 over Bautista or Tulo. Like, Bautista successfully led off for a large portion of the year. With the season on the line, Gibby isn't willing to go back to that for a single game? It would even allow Tulo and Martin to move up FFS.
  7. Well I'm frankly not seeing how you can call for Barnes or Tepera on Tuesday without acknowledging the likelihood that these yo-yo RPs would have made trouble that Osuna would have needed to come clean up anyway with a higher chance of things going wrong. Risking a win to save Osuna's energy for the next day... energy that doesn't guarantee a clean save anyway. If Tuesday was a 3-run game would Osuna have been acceptable? Seems like a stat-padding strategy to me. If any opponent forces you outside of the 3-run cutoff for closers, it's Baltimore. Gibby played Tuesday fine. He even, mostly, played fine yesterday. I had my criticisms, but using Osuna wasn't one of them.
  8. I can't believe people are second guessing not bringing Tepera into Tuesday's 9th. Would Kim have put up a shittier AB if Osuna was one day fresher? Was Betances just tired on Sunday having not pitched in three days, or did people give the Blue Jays credit for being tough outs? Give Kim an ounce of credit. Schoop too for getting on base by flicking Osuna's gameplan against him -- I mean everyone's always bleating about the Jays doing that, right? Go oppo on strong arms who won't give inner half? But no, baseless assumptions about fatigue for miles. Only the Blue Jays can lose a game, the other team can't win it.
  9. Stop bitching you f***ing whiners. You survived the ALDS last year, you can survive a s***** loss with the team still on top of the standings.
  10. Worst part is he didn't even get caught.
  11. Wow, this blows. I had a bad feeling those those tootblans would burn, but I guess "ya gotta go for it sometimes eh"
  12. Okay guys. I will eat the s***. I'm fair.
  13. Actually... Good point.
  14. Why Cecil. Why. Gibby.
  15. Grilli should be up. The 8th-9th tandem can go to hell tonight.
  16. The hits are finally bunched up tonight and the tootblans are emptying the bases for them.
  17. Ran on a 0-out bloop that Reimold caught (great play) and then got doubled up at 2nd.
  18. That was indefensible by Jose. At worst he gets forced at third if the ball is trapped. So bad.
  19. I don't think Martin was either tbh. But wow, 9 Ks.
  20. Sort of the opposite of this past offseason with the lineup being set and the holes in the rotation.
  21. Not only does he risk a baserunner with JD up but he manages to flub a literal safe call.
  22. Davis is playing some really bad defense, both execution and mentally.
  23. Not that I would consider putting Dickey on the playoff squad, but that inning was JD's fault. Dickey got a grounder that was thrown away, a bunt attempt that went south defensively at 3rd, and a lazy (sac) fly to left. Totally wasn't on his head.
  24. Yes. Starter longevity is over-considered in playoff matches. The manager needs to remember he's not worrying about tomorrow's shifts anymore.
