    I wonder if the Blue Jays have taken more strikes than normal. I think they've already surpassed all time Ks for the franchise. I'm wondering if the deer in headlights problem is legit or if it's just amplified by all the guys seemingly slumping in unison.

    I don't think this team is all that far off from being competitive again -- in fact, I think they'll probably steal a Wild Card next year if Shatkins make good moves (which shouldn't be that hard to do -- they don't need to make blockbusters). I'm not really sure what your point has to do with this season, though. I'm not thinking about next year outside of the fact that I'll legit miss seeing Jose and Edwin suit up in blue every night.

    Yeah. It's not fun watching this team trip on its shoe laces like this. It's like seeing your team go up 6-0 by the 7th and watching the lead evaporate to 6-6 by the 9th, and then having someone say "hey, I thought you wanted the team to be competing -- this should be a great ballgame by your standards!" Meaningful September games in this context isn't so much a team being competitive (like, say, the Tigers or Mariners who never truly got their cars started but have survived this far) as much as it is watching a solid body of work come undone.

    This is what I told my girlfriend last night. She is in full panic mode. I read a few things from him once that made me not want to read things from him again. I forget what. I'm pretty sure it had to do with my own tastes as a baseball reader, though. Not sure what a player would have against just talking to him, unless he got too pushy with a big name one day and then got his ass blacklisted by big name's influence.

    I think Benoit's injury secretly hurt this team already. Fewer proven options means less confidence from the manager in what he has. I bet Gibby doesn't go to Osuna in a 4-run game on Tuesday if what he thinks is probably the middle option between Osuna-Grilli and Barnes-Tepera is available. He probably goes to Benoit and leaves Osuna fresher for yesterday + available tonight.

    36 WAR, all from the bat, in eight full years with some cut short by injury, including the most iconic moment in 20+ years. But yeah, f*** Jose.

    If tonight ends up being Jose and Edwin's last time in blue at Rogers Centre I hope it's a good one. A homer each will suffice.

    I think we both agree that saving bullets is a bad strategy. Only difference is I think a 4-run lead is still worth a bullet against the O's.
