Wilner wondering on Twitter why MLB is concerned about the new turf. Last night both he and Shi were pointing the turf out on every play affected by it, and today he's wondering why the league is concerned. Did he get chewed out about mentioning the turf or something? I have no idea why he is so puzzled all of a sudden.

50/50 to K, 50/50 to walk, 50/50 to foul it off, 50/50 to HBP, 50/50 to watch a wild pitch go by... No, it isn't. You could make the same argument for any pitcher. "He's got great stuff but needs to harness it; walking 8 guys just comes with the territory!" Dickey handed the other team two runs when he was nearly out of the inning. He put himself in position to make it much worse several times, too. Higher standards would do you well. Manners too.

He issued three straight two-out walks, the latter two scoring runs. He was terrible, but the offense was worse (and, credit where it's due, Odorizzi was quite good). When you hand the other team runs like that, even if they aren't the winning runs, it's unforgivable IMO.

Jose running with no outs and Donaldson on deck. Edwin swinging out of his shoes at everything in earshot. What a disaster ninth. Add to that the winning run was walked in and you have a shitpile home opener.
