    Right-hander Casey Lawrence will return to the Blue Jays on a minor league deal that includes a Spring Training invite, the club announced. Lawrence, who just turned 29, has spent his entire professional career with the Toronto organization but has yet to crack the big leagues. Working as a starter last year, splitting 162 frames about evenly between Double-A and Triple-A, he pitched to a 4.17 ERA with 6.0 K/9 against 2.1 BB/9.

    We've been very fortunate with our rotation staying healthy but it's pretty risky to expect that for another full season. There has to be an arm ready at least.

    Obviously as a Jay, we can't give value outside of the team as our Franchise Top players, otherwise Roger Clemens is our team's #1.

    First Half: 7.71 K/9 38% GB Second Half: 13.10 K/9 45% GB I'd say it had some effect I think.

    I think Cecil's curve didn't have the bite for half the season so if it's not getting down he's probably not inducing the GBs. Just my first thought.

    Morales is allowed to be one dimensional, that's sort of his position and he's an above average bat at both sides of the plate... Odds are Bruce or Reddick are being looked at to fulfill Upton's split and Smoak can f*** right off.

    Single game tickets but I never buy far in advance, I just don't commit myself without knowing our family plans first. That said, if (or when) EE/Bautista sign with a new team I'll be buying their first home game tickets back.

    I think Reddick would replace Saunders tbh.

    That was one of the lowest points I've ever had watching baseball. Alomar was my idol, even when he wasn't a Jay, I would fake swing a game tying bomb with my arms raised up, mimicking him . I remember watching that game when he spat on the ump and I was dumbfounded. I was 13 I think and my heart just sank when I realized the best players can be *******s.

    I see no reason to s*** on Bautista and I'll be sure to have tickets for his first game back to give him his standing O

    He's probably the only guy who'll consider giving the Jays a hometown discount as well.

    The platoon doubles as your depth piece... Understandably it creates a weak spot in the line up per say but it's still adequate MLB talent. It's also why having someone like Pearce would be quite useful as a super utility type for those times.

    Not even as a last resort... Upton+Reddick would provide more value out of one corner outfield spot than Bautista, at a cheaper cost.

    There's nothing wrong using platoons it's usually a cheaper way of creating value in a position of need. It also provides capable depth rather than carrying a AAAA bench player.

    I will puke seeing Rasmus & Smoak back to back against RHP. We will lead league in strikeouts again.

    I think the FO is pretty set on Upton being only useful for LHP and needs a partner. I'm assuming Bruce is plan C in this equation but it could also pressure guys like Reddick in to signing by leaking this out that we want to sign a LH bat pronto.

    If they only sign Reddick I could literally see Gibby being Gibby and use Carerra as a starter & leadoff and platoon Reddick with Upton. Puke. If they are only signing one OF to save money sign Reddick to split with Upton and trade for Puig.

    Surely they could eat 75%+ of his contract in a trade somewhere when a team suffers an injury?
