    The problem is their off season plans weighed on if Edwin signed or not. They can't just wait all winter for him when there are holes to fill and a free agent list shrinking daily, not to mention with budget constraints in mind. They will come out of this looking fine anyway because no one can say they didn't make the offer.

    It's not stupid when you have a deep farm and deep pockets. They are basically investing 33.33MM per year for Sale (Sale's salary + Moncada) + 3 prospects to complete the trade. That's pretty much the going rate for the best pitchers in baseball right now.

    See this is where casuals are going to lose their s*** when he signs with the Indians for less than we offered. He had his opportunity to get a deal done, this FO wants to actually sign guys during these meetings and it was obvious that their spending allowance depended on Edwin's decision.

    There's good/fair value and then there's stupid money. Nobody likes these gigantic, 10 year contracts approaching $300MM where something small can completely destroy the investment. I can't imagine this FO or even Rogers tying up that kind of money on one player for so long.
