They announced they exercised Dickey's option last night. Whether Shapiro trades him on the other hand might become a different story.

I think all indication prior to Aug. 31st was payroll was going to drop, AA would be fired and the team would be blown up. Shapiro was the right man for that job too, now I can't see Rogers wanting the team gone in fear of losing it's new acquired fan base. AA walking is already stirring the pot a lot.

That could also be just as much on ownership as blaming AA.

We all know that's very very likely not true and not a fair argument against any GM in Toronto. Half the league's best players have us on their blacklist for a reason and most won't even consider coming here as free agents. Most of AA's moves were a way to get around the fact that players in the FA market don't give a s*** about us. Russell Martin came here because of money but he's also Canadian... Who's been our biggest FA signing since Clemens?

I expected that exact scenario if the Jays were not contending and not bringing sellouts the last 2 months of the season, something they haven't done in years. However, there was every reason to believe that would continue next year with possible record breaking numbers for the franchise.

They wouldn't tear down this roster, there is too much at stake and Rogers is enjoying sellouts. The only way that happens is if Rogers says ok the budget is $120MM. Go.

Pretty sure he was throwing upper 90s as a starter in the minors, no? We also tend to forget he's only 20 years old. If he doesn't get a fair chance to be a SP with his talent, it would be a crime.
