  1. It must be depressing going from a spring training game with 50000 people to this.
  2. Gibby sitting on the bench thinking "Cola diving on that one play justifies me putting him in the lineup everyday"
  3. well at least his pitch count is getting up there.
  4. Wow both of them were complete boneheads on that play.
  5. By the way, anyone know what our new hashtag for the year is? Ive got money down on "yank one off"
  6. Remember these gems from last year: Castro (Closer); Norris (SP); Sanchez (SP); Pompey (CF); Pillar (RF); Navarro (DH); Tolleson (U) The bad decisions will work themselves out for the most part as reality becomes obvious to mgmt. Fortunately, our 25man is strong enough to absorb one or two really bone-headed decisions. Predictions: - Tepera will fail before Loup is back. - Carrera will dive and miss some balls but will get cred from Gibby for the effort, wont hit worth crap and somehow sticks around until June when he is eventually dfa'd. - Venditte will get called up after someone sucks/gets hurt and will be more than serviceable.
  7. 89 It is an underestimation so that I can be happy when im wrong... assuming they dont stink for some reason
  8. Id be ok with the Jays running 6 starters at the beginning of the season in an extended competition for the 5 spot (or until someone gets hurt). I may be mistaken but isnt this what played out with Estrada last season before Norris got sent down?
  9. Looks like my dad when he shows up at a wedding... jean shorts and a dress shirt (from Cabelas).
  10. By comparing him to Cito are you saying he is a good manager? because that is a pretty low bar in most people's minds. He isnt good at anything really. In some cases he is downright terrible ie: 1) Bullpen management. 2) line up decisions [Pillar lead-off would be a recent example] 3) player positioning. I can only think of two instances where I was somewhat impressed with him: 1) Asking the replay crew to rule Kawasaki out at first to preserve the run at the plate ... I dont remember what game that was. 2) having pennington come in to relief pitch, and even then it was much too late. Im sure we can do better than this clown.
  11. Gossage to the New York Post- "No manager can run on the field anymore and kick dirt on the umpire. That was exciting. That was part of the game. ... Now you sit there for five minutes and wait for a f---ing replay." Coming off Gossage's latest quote on the way the baseball should be I was thinking as a distraction to spring training and roster angst we might be able to come up with a few things for him to use in the future. By way of example... "Teams used to get to games on buses and trains. Now they gotta fly on a f---ing airplane. You used to get to know people on those long trips. Now guys just sit back and listen to phones and look at facetube." or "There was a time that you used to be able to get drunk at the ballpark and that was fun. No, I dont mean watching the game, I mean playing the game. I walked 732 guys.... all because I was too drunk to see the catcher. Would I do it differently for better numbers? No! because that was part of the f---ing game"
  12. 3 Jays make mlb.com's top 10 defensive players to watch. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/167286136/10-mlb-players-worth-watching-on-defense Of note: Hechavarria also makes the list.
  13. A healthy Devon Travis will likely be the #1 spot in the future... we are just going to have to deal with Gibby's "gut feelings" and "pure hitter" BS.
  14. I voted poor. Storen is the only move I am excited about. The other moves seemed like filler or obvious maintenance (ie: options and depth moves). If the Yanks and Sox do nothing, then this is an average off season. Unfortunately, every team in the AL east save for the Orioles are more improved over last year.
  15. In most cases, im going to be happy with signing guys that have played at the major league level to minor league contracts. This guy is no exception.
  16. I noticed if you say "moo-three" out loud several times in a row it starts to sound a lot like moogy.
  17. 5/110 with a team opt out in the 5th would be my max. I would say a guaranteed contract of 90+ 30 mil in incentives if that is even workable but I cant see he would agree to that.
  18. That was my exact reaction... this joke just gets better and better.
  19. The JPA comment was tongue and cheek if you missed it, and for the record he would likely do the same or better than Rasmus in TO.
  20. I would call him a poor man's Colby Rasmus if his contract wasnt $10,000,000.00 I havent seen enough of him to draw JP Arancibia comparisons but his K rate has been historically terrible.
  21. Ultimately, the best contract imo would be an incentive laden one... I doubt that Jose agrees to that though.
