    So many distractions already, not even 24 hours into spring training. Hopefully the team will be able to get to work and focus on the task at hand, otherwise this could turn in to a shitshow of a year.

    There's no way this deal is dead if the minor league medical is the hold up. They'll just swap someone out if they want Bruce badly enough.

    If the Jays don't win it all this year and Jose and EE move on to torture us for the next couple of years as Yankees or Red Sox the vitriol from the fanbase will be significant, and somewhat deserved in my opinion.

    Fair enough but have we received confirmation that Saunders medicals are the hold up or is it still speculative? Pompey, if given the opportunity, will out-WAR both Saunders and Bruce this season and he brings something different to the table for the Jays.

    I'd be surprised if the parties aren't trying to restructure the trade to work around the medical issues. I'm sure it's not dead and done. I'd be really comfortable with going into the season with Pompey as our LF though - I think he's going to have a breakout year and be really solid for the Jays for years to come.

    I'd imagine the prospect(s) are from the Angels. No worry whatsoever that we're going to give up anyone of substantial value if this trade goes through.

    Yeah, there's no chance the FO gives up anything of consequence in terms of prospects for Bruce. He has been nothing short of horrible the last two years.

    This seems like the kind of move that an analytically adept FO would stay far away from. Doesn't make much sense in my opinion.

    Years ago the Jays, Beeston I believe, gave up equalization payments intended to level the playing field with exchange rates. I can't remember though what the exact deal was and if it's something that could be revisited. Edit: That said, it may have been very well covered in this article......which I have not yet read.

    For the love of god, if Hutch makes the rotation next year it has to be because he has earned it. At this point I have no faith in carrying him as one of the 5.

    If, and this is of course complete speculation, but if AA walked because Shapiro wants to be heavily involved in the construction of the team doesn't that severely deter any of the established big name GMs from wanting to come here now?
