    I can't stand this. You know its gonna happen where he hits an uncontested rebound out of bounds because hes trying to get that extra board for himself. Hate how he takes long 2s as well.

    The teams that can afford him have Front Offices that don't undervalue defense though and with his age I think it will create a bidding war where he gets over 200 Million.

    Well I'm not advocating signing a SP to a 5 year deal. Iwakuma, Samardzja probably aren't getting long term deals. You can always trade guys later on too but with the amount of revenue the club generates I doubt payroll is going to go down. It should probably increase dramatically with Shapiro handling the business decisions from now on.

    There are tons of smart people in a FO lol. No point in hiring Tinnish as GM either when you can leave him as AGM and hire a better person from somewhere outside of the org.

    Team has like 30-40 Million to spend? More than enough to get a FA SP. Only realistic trade I could see Tulo approving is maybe one to LAA. And say the package you get is Ayabar, Heany and Newcomb which the Angels might not even want to do. Does that make the Blue Jays any better?

    Wonder if you could move Tellez for a SP prospect. Seems like a slugging 1st baseman prospect might have more value in a trade than he actually does in value to a team. I can't see his ceiling much more than a 2-3 WAR player with him realistically being a 4A player. Not a big fan of a 1st baseman with slow bat speed.

    Well if it came down to Trading Tulo for a 3 WAR SP I'm keeping Tulo and signing a FA SP. There are a lots of SP on the market but really aren't any good quality SS that you can replace Tulo with.

    Doesn't work like that. Just because he had a career year (really 1.5 months) doesn't mean he will do it next year. Lets not forget he hit like dogshit in the playoffs and was pretty much an automatic out. Like I mentioned earlier even if Goins say puts up 1 WAR and Tulo puts up 3 WAR. You lose more than 2 WAR of production to the team. Since Tulo is so much better of a hitter than Goins, that creates more PA for the top of the lineup (JD, Bautista etc..) which will be shown in their WAR totals.

    Dayton Moore seems to be going down the same career path as Pirates GM Neil Huntington. People thought they were bad GMs for the first few years but they've learned to adapt and grow as GMs. One of the common traits between these 2 seem to be they listen a lot to the people around them when making a decision. I think that is the same type of process Shapiro wants to have in the FO and talked about in great length yesterday.

    Can we stop with pretending Ryan Goins is a starting SS? If you think its realistic he puts up 2 WAR we might as well hope for Donaldson to put up 10 WAR and Smoak to be a 3 WAR player! He had career year and put up a 84 wRC+. Pretty good bet he goes back to being a terrible hitter next year like he was his entire career. Tulo might rather live closer to his Las Vegas home but the Jays can't just trade him because he didn't feel the most "comfortable". I think with a full offseason and starting off with the Blue Jays he will feel much better about living in Toronto since he won't be living out of a hotel this time around. One of the main reasons he wanted out of Colorado was the chance to be on a World Series contender. Well in the short term he has that here in Toronto.

    For some reason the media thinks Tulo will be traded. Get the feeling Tulo really doesn't like Toronto and would rather live in the southern US, but at the same time you can't just trade him and go into the season with Ryan Goins as your starting SS.

    It wouldn't be Ryan Howard money thats for sure. You are comparing one of the better GMs to one of the worst GMs of all time.

    Even if he did come back I doubt he would ever sign in Toronto. He turned down over 20 million to go to Philly instead of NY because of his family so him going to a different country for $5 million seems very unlikely.

    I think that was what was offered but Cleveland turned it down. Interesting because the Blue Jays wouldn't of been able to get Tulowitzki if they made that trade unless the Rockies would of took Norris but they obviously wanted Hoffman more. Edit: It was Norris, Hoffman, Pompey that was offered.

    Isn't his elbow done? I think he's retiring since he never got TJS so my guess is his elbow just magically didn't get better.

    24 isn't young by NBA standards. Anything can happen but usually by this age you know what type of player they are. Thing I hate about him is how bad his defense is. He's athletic but was one of the worst defenders I've seen last year. Constant blow by after blow by and dumb ass plays.

    Yeah. Thats why I don't agree with Riccardi's claim. Teams that are more analytical seem to always do better. The teams that have not used analytics (Phillies, Rockies, Diamondbacks) have been absolutely terrible. If you want to look at WS winners too the Red Sox and Cardinals are 2 of the biggest proponents of analytics.

    Blue Jays were more of a scouting org. than an analytical one. TheBlue Jays use analytics as well as the Royals I'm sure so that is almost all of the teams in the postseason. Which teams that I mentioned would you say aren't analytic clubs?

    2015 Postseason Anaytlic heavy: Pirates Cubs Cardinals Mets Dodgers Astros Yankees So really the Blue Jays and Royals were the only 2 teams in the postseason who were more scouting oriented than analytical. I'm not sure what the hell JPR is trying to say lol
