  1. Floyd is a FA after this season and the Jays have $1 Million invested in him. Sanchez has 5 more years of control.
  2. Is Straily even better than Delabar?
  3. lol you're right, he'd still be out on the mound trying to get them out as we speak. I had to..
  4. I know what you are saying, just find it difficult and unreasonable to expect Sanchez to be able to master 2 additional pitches. He has the cutter which I think was developed for the reason you mention. I think the priority should be command and not learning a slider as that is what is going to make him the most effective. Was weird, last year Sanchez actually got more whiffs as a starter compared to a reliever so I think throwing the curveball more will get a few more whiffs just be virtue of the hitter thinking about it.
  5. Curve has a positive pitch value in his career so I don't think you can say its ineffective. Plus the curve has less of a platoon split so since he already struggles with LHH I'm not sure you want to take that away.
  6. One thing I'd be interested in seeing is if there is a correlation with catching Dickey and being a worse hitter. We know Martin was horrible on days he caught Dickey last year but the sample is still small. I wonder what the numbers would look like if you were to take every catcher who caught Dickey and look at the splits.
  7. The kind of adjustment you are talking about where you need is something you do in the offseason not 2 weeks before the season starts. The curveball really isn't the issue anyway. Its the changeup that needs the most work.
  8. Well it depends on if he can continue with the command he has showed in Spring. People talk about the secondary pitches a lot but I think the command is what is going to be the biggest factor if he can be an effective SP going forward.
  9. seems to be a correlation with Buck being dumb as soon as Tabler is back in the booth.
  10. My guess is because the FO felt all of those guys would be a downgrade on catching Dickey. Obviously we don't know the full story but there is likely a good reason why Thole is catching Dickey. I'll just be thankful this whole dilemma will be over with after this season.
  11. I know what you are saying I just think you are putting too much stock into a hiring of a President/GM that won't be working with Sanchez directly. It certainly has an effect on the players coming into the organization but in the first 2 months? His curveball is an average pitch and has certainly improve over the last few years. Its not like he's a crap pitcher right now lol.
  12. Well if you have Martin catch Dickey to have Conger be the backup then you are only increasing the chance of Martin getting hurt? Which is why you wanted Conger in the first place lol
  13. I think what we've seen is other guys can do it just not as well as Thole. Martin, a superior defensive catcher could do it but he lost some strikes that Thole gets. If the backup catcher is catching 32 Dickey starts and only 10-12 other games don't you want the guy who is going to the best at catching Dickey.?
  14. Did they hire any coaches in the minor leagues? Its not like Eric Wedge is going to tell Sanchez to strike people out and all of a sudden he starts striking more guys out. As far as I know its the same Blue Jays coaches in the minors.
  15. Well since Thole has to be dickey's personal catcher I'm sure you can do anything else.
  16. Wow the Astros shifted Smoak so there wasn't one player on the left side of 2nd base.
  17. Because he is out of options and won't make the team. Pretty simple lol
  18. No idea what his velo was but was good vs RHH and terrible vs LHH. He was getting some groundballs and whifs on the fastball but lost his command at times.
  19. Fister sucks vs LHH.
  20. A player can swing and miss more than once during an AB.
  21. You just knew Bautista was waiting for that pitch.
  22. Yeah but outside of Valbuena all were pretty bad hitters so it doesn't change much.
  23. Castro is fooling this ump a ton.
  24. Anyone else think Donaldson looks a lot skinnier than he was last year?
  25. First pitch of the game was.
