    Who on this board is treating him as a hero? 90% of the posts I see about him are all negative. The trades he made last year helped the team achieve one of the best seasons in franchise history even if their average age is on the older side. If you could go back in time everyone would make those trades again so I'm not sure what you are trying to say.

    Agree I like the move for that reason. Was just saying from a strictly numbers point of view the move doesn't mean much since Saunders was the best hitter coming into the game.

    From how the lineup was performing it really doesn't mean much. Saunders was the team's best hitter by wRC+ and was hitting leadoff before.

    Holy f*** why is it that every bad move AA made everyone feels the need to post countless times how he screwed up. Guess what? Every GM makes bad moves including the good ones. Sure the Gomes and Dickey trades look terrible but he also acquired an MVP for 4 years in Donaldson while giving up barely anything. Other moves like the Travis, Saunders and Price trade look really good too yet no one is posting that over and over again.

    Wouldn't you swap Martin and Pillar if you wanted to go fully optimal.

    Getting more PA with guys on base for the Blue Jays best hitter to date Michael Saunders is nice too. I think I'd flip Saunders and Smoak but nothing to get worked up about. Hopefully the batting order change can get the bats going.

    Nice to see Bautista hitting leadoff. Paredes at 2nd is a disaster but maybe its because Flyball pitcher Estrada is on the mound.

    Its all relative. NBA and NHL have the star players at the top that can turn a franchise around but it takes some luck since there is a draft lottery in those leagues unlike the MLB. MLB there is still a large bust rate at the top of a draft but the worst team gets an extra almost 4 Million to spend than the 4th worst team which is a lot of talent. The difference in getting the 6th best pool to the 12th really isn't worth tanking for though.

    wtf happened to Russel Martin. I think we all knew Goins sucked but for Martin to be the 2nd worst hitter in all of baseball is truly messed up.

    Now that MLB has changed the draft and IFA bonus pools I think its a little different now. There is a large advantage to finishing with a lower record.

    Yeah I think he is and I think he has that name value where it would boost his trade return. Have to remember at the time Zobrist got traded he has a 122wRC+ and 0.8 WAR.

    That package seems pretty light. Zobrist got Manea last year and Bautista is a much better player. Now I don't think he gets a David Price package but he should get a great haul.
