    to be fair this really wasn't on our pitchers tonight, though I certainly don't want to see Doubront out there anymore. The one positive was that our BP looked great and Latroy had a nice debut.

    Baseball is such a funny sport, you feel on cloud nine as a fan one day and after 1 loss feel like the season's over. This was a terrible loss, but let's not lose sight of the fact of how many 3 (or 4 if Minny wins) deficits have been made up in much less than 60 games. It's not the end of the world, but it sure feels like more than the Tulo trade is needed

    They are and they do, at a very steep cost. For a team with payroll restrictions who has to rely on their farm system, I'm surprised.

    Sure, someone might want him but not without a huge chunk of salary being taken on by the Rockies. At 24 million a year (that's incorporating the 4 million buyout) they would have to assume at least 20 million. And even then what sort of prospects could they realistically expect back.....I don't think very much. Feels like if they just offered to eat 20 million of Tulo's contract and shopped him around that they could have gotten more back.

    Why? We need him as our pitching stands right now, he's been better as of late and we're only committed to him for the rest of this year at a low salary.

    AA strikes again. I expected an out of left field move from him this year, but certainly not for a position player. Exciting times. Why would Tulo not be in the lineup tonight? He's coming from Chicago after all.

    To say a positive run differential means nothing is so so flawed. Of course it means something and a higher number is typically correlated with better results. In this case it's representative of the fact that the Jays have a prolific offense and it's that fact that has projections giving them a decent chance of grabbing a wild card spot. Improve the team in an area of need and those projections become even more favourable.

    No. The outrage from players and fans would be massive. Even if they drop the next 3 before Friday's deadline it's hard to see any scenario where that happens, nor do I think it should.

    MB should most definitely be given a QO. 15 mil for one year is worth it based on his performance and influence on others. If he declines either he is forced into retirement or has to take on a much lower contract with another club (as no team is going to sacrifice a 1st round pick for a year or two of him and $15 million a year). Either we get him at 15 mio, or we get a comp pick.

    It was based on the difference between payroll at the start of 2014 vs 2015 (was higher last year). But that really doesn't mean much. Beeston said payroll would definitely go up (which it hasn't). But then again the USD has skyrocketed and who knows if they have hedged their currency exposure. Bottom line is that no one in the media knows how much money is to be spent, but the actions of the Jays the past couple of years certainly point to restrictions being in place.

    As much as I've poked fun at people who have needlessly jumped on Gibby at every moment the past couple of years, this year he's taking away that brand of sarcasm from me. Too many poor decisions to ignore at this stage.
