    Well, you said "This team is not making the playoffs" which means you think there's a 0% chance of them making it. That in itself is ridiculous, but I can certainly find "evidence" that this team has a much better than 0% chance of making the playoffs. BP has us at a 46% chance, FG at 38.3% and that's assuming no deadline moves are made. So I'm pretty sure I'm gonna trust their analysis and the actual performance of this team so far as opposed to some random disillusioned forum member who posts some sort of negative comment in 95% of their contributions.

    Because we are trying to make the playoffs and need him, simple as that. And we force his hand by offering him a QO - at his age he's either gonna accept our offer or be forced to accept a much worse deal elsewhere as teams aren't going to give up a pick for 1 year (or 2 at most) of MB at 15 a year.

    Should clarify, I agree with not trading for a rental. But strongly disagree about trading Beurhle.

    Couldn't disagree more. First off, anyone that says there's no way this team makes the playoffs is out of their minds and just a typical jaded Toronto sports fan. This team is not far from being one of the best in the league. With this type of offense and RD you are in the playoff conversation. A couple of moves could most definitely help that cause. And this team isn't losing it's key players next year, the moves we make this year (Assuming it's not a rental) will put us in better shape next year. Obviously you're not going to trade your current best pitcher when you're in playoff contention. The best strategy with Beurhle is to make him a qualifying offer at the end of the season and hope he accepts it for another year. Not only is he great on the mound, but he's great off the mound as well. Easily worth 15 million for next year. I know it's trendy to bash the Jays, but people on here don't realize how good this team actually is.

    My god, Jim Joyce is one ump I respect, but he has been awful today. So many strikes outside of the zone called against us and our pitchers can't get the same call. Brutal.
