  1. I expect the new guy to take Dubront's spot in the rotation.
  2. Wandy Rodriguez was DFA'ed by Texas today. Wouldn't be a high cost acquisition and he'd be better than Dubront. It wouldn't be a sexy option, but it wouldn't hurt if the Jays go after two pitchers.
  3. I think AA is here to stay. He's managed to get the best 3B, SS and one of the top 5 catchers in all of baseball without giving up much of anything. Yes the pitching has sucked, but the prices are too high for that otherwise he would have went out and done it a long time ago.
  4. Reyes was the best SS that the Jays have had since Fernandez. Tulo is the best SS the Jays have ever had. It sucks to see the one guy go, but getting the other makes it all worth it.
  5. I would not mind a similar trade as the Reyes one but this time involving Jose. Move him plus a prospect or two for different but similarly talented outfielder. Cycle the bad attitudes out of the organization. We have already ditched Rasmus, Lind, Lawrie, and Reyes. Only Bautista and maybe EE are left.
  6. Yes, although it might not be the worst thing if the Jays leave them in the pen for another year if they do get some legit pitchers for the rotation.
  7. They were a pipe dream before, and are virtually non-existent now. The only way it would be a possibility is if the Jays were to get two good pitchers between now and the weekend. The odds on that are so slim it's almost not worth discussing.
  8. Now with injuries Travis and Bautista, unless a potential pitcher is controllable for the next few years (either a long contract or young enough) I'd rather they stand pat. Use the 40 million freed up by Buehrle, Romero, and Dickey on two starters in free agency (or through an offseason trade) and run with the two new guys + Stroman + two of Hutchison/Estrada/Norris.
  9. I really liked Reyes. So what if he wasn't quite as good as he was 6 or 7 years ago. Few people are. He was the best short stop since Fernandez. The Jays won this trade in my opinion, but that doesn't negate that Reyes was a really good player for us for the past 3 years.
  10. Even adding Tepera and possibly Joba to that list makes the pen actually fairly decent. Hawkins, Sanchez, Osuna, Schultz, Hendriks, Tepera, Joba and Cecil is a good pen. Now if they can get a starter or two, the Jays might take off in the next couple months. Trade EE for one and have Smoak/Colabello play 1st/DH and you'll have almost the same production from EE from the other two guys while upgrading the pitching. Bring up Pompey to get rid of Carrera as well to upgrade the lineup further.
  11. I would have to expect that some of the other prospects and maybe EE might go for a pair of pitchers. EE + something for Average starter #1 Prospects for Average starter #2
  12. If true, the rockies paid 60 mil in value for Castro and Hoffman. Big woop. Hoffman hasn't been very good since coming back from injury.
  13. He's a pitcher that can throw the ball without getting destroyed every inning he's on the mound. That's a major improvement right there.
  14. Reyes + prospects. I would expect Pompey or Alford + Norris or Hoffman or Pimp-foley to be those guys.
  15. Reyes I would assume is going the other way. I wonder what the + would be.
  16. Well this is awesome. I'm used to breaking Calgary Flames news on CalgaryPuck, not Jays news on here.
  17. Ken Rosenthal just tweeted. Ken Rosenthal ‏@Ken_Rosenthal BREAKING: Tulo traded to #BlueJays.
  18. I was 8 at the time. It was awesome.
  19. Honestly, I would rather see the Jays do nothing. I wouldn't even care if they sold Buerhle and RAD for prospects and call up several prospects up to start for the last 2 months. They would not be well advised to pay the price for pitching now and they can just open pocket book for a pair of pitchers in the offseason to replace the two starters that are departing.
  20. Yeah, I don't see how unless the pitching magically gets better. I don't see more than 38-40 wins at the top end.
  21. If there was a way to keep the drafting focus that AA has, and his occasional ninja move like Wells and Donaldson, that would be great. However, he has a propensity for not addressing problems on the roster at all. The bullpen was looking like it was going to be a disaster this year at the same time last year. What did AA do? not a damn thing. I know pen arms are the most volatile part of a team and you can usually get by with throwing random crap at the wall, something will stick. However, you usually need 1 or 2 good relievers regardless that you know you can count on. We did not have that. It also didn't help that the Jays lost two good starters in Stroman and Happ. With Dickey falling off a cliff, now the Jays only have 2 starters that are of any quality on a major league roster and they are a #3 (Bueherle) and a #4/5 (Hutchison). The jays needed a 2B ever since Hill was here, and that wasn't addressed until this year. Just very very slow to address any problems in the roster at all.
  22. I'm not worried about this if it's temporary because the Jays are going to get a starter in the next 2 weeks. If that doesn't happened, AA needs to go.
  23. Are there any guys in the upper end of the system that could get called into action in the bull pen much like Sanchez last year? I'm sure Boyd could but who else?
  24. The jays need desperately to nuke the bull pen and throw different bodies in there.
