  1. Graveman will be a good MLB starter, IMO. I'm not a fan of Nolin, but Graveman I can see carving out a nice MLB career.
  2. I don't think there's any way Hendriks clears. He's young, cheap, and has a good minor league track record. Put him in a big park in the NL (or Seattle) and he'll do well enough. If they can sneak him down and then stretch Jenkins out to be a starter in AAA, then at least there would be some semblance of AAA depth other than pray for Johan to stay healthy.
  3. I wish we just signed Villanueva to fill that role.
  4. Cecil, Castro, Loup, Delabar, Hynes, Redmond, Estrada Better hope Hendriks clears waivers. We'll need that man.
  5. Castro is friggin good.
  6. Castro already has three pitches. Dude has the potential to be a really good starter. He's way ahead of Sanchez.
  7. Saunders even playing minor league games right now is shocking. I wouldn't rush him back. Wait until he's ready. I'm more worried about Edwin, not only for his back, but because Gibbons will play him at 1B to get Navarro's 78 career wRC+ against righties in the lineup.
  8. This should be quoted and repeated as much as possible until Navarro is traded (which at this point looks like it will never happen).
  9. Sounds about right.
  10. Hendriks needs a spot too. He seems like the only one without options who would get claimed. No excuse to put Castro on the 40 man roster with all the bullpen options available.
  11. Based on some Tweets. Seems like he's a likely candidate to make it. But he's more of the "near lock" I mentioned, while the others are more certain. If they want to carry a 3rd lefty, for whatever reason, it's either Hynes or Francis, and we need Francis as SP depth. I'm going to guess Hynes makes it.
  12. So Cecil, Loup, Delabar, Redmond, Estrada, and Hynes are the locks or near locks, right? That leaves one spot open for Castro, unless there's another pitcher in low-A with no pro experience that AA likes better.
  13. I've been on the Guerrero bandwagon since the off-season. Dude can hit. Play him in LF, 1B, 2B, wherever. Just get his bat in the lineup and he'll produce. Unfortunately he makes more than the minimum, so he's probably not an option for this team.
  14. Yep. The thought of Navarro at DH is sickening. I'm rooting for Smoak.
  15. Wilner in mid season form.
  16. With Hutchison and Stroman adding new pitches to improve their performance, I guess we can't rule out Sanchez doing the same. Hope it helps him.
  17. How about Estrada in the rotation, Hendriks as the long man, and Norris in AAA until Sanchez fails? At least get that extra year on Norris.
  18. To think, if Stroman were healthy, the likely set up would have been Sanchez in the pen, Estrada in the rotation, Norris in AAA, and Castro in Dunedin. One injury, and suddenly two prospects who should start in the minors (Norris for service time reasons) will start in the bigs, and another who should be a reliever will be in the rotation. Damn Marcus, you had to f*** up your ACL, didn't you?
  19. Knowing that the organization is willing to screw around with Castro, I'd be willing to move both he and Sanchez for Hamels. One is destined to be a reliever (Sanchez), and the other is going to get his development screwed up by the org. Hamels instantly makes the team better.
  20. If they don't care about service time with practically every other young player on the team, then Travis should make the team out of Spring Training too. He is clearly better than Maicer.
  21. How many times has Tampa or Oakland done something to a prospect similar to what the Jays are doing to Castro? I'll guess never. What's stopping AA from using Osuna and Hoffman as relievers next year? Dude is out of his f***ing mind right now.
  22. He has 80 innings as his max so far. As a reliever he will throw about 75. Stretching him out next year will require a trip to the minors, and how likely is that if he succeeds (even artificially) as a reliever? Even if they do stretch him out again in 2016, he will be back in the pen at the first sign of not panning out immediately. We have seen this song and dance forever.
  23. They should have fired AA after he acquired Saunders. A better GM could have put the finishing touches on this roster. Instead, Harry and Lloyd (or Alex and Gibby) will run this team to the ground to save their jobs. Poor Castro. Wrong place, wrong time. He deserved a chance to see if he could make it as a starter. Now he will probably never know.
  24. Alex is fired if the team fails and he has no money to spend. Dude is going out with the guys he drafted or signed, for better or worse. Very selfish the way he is using Castro but that's why GM's should never have one year remaining on their contracts. Either extend them or replace them.
  25. Gibbons will misuse him. Edwin hurting his back might temper down some of Gibby's insanity, but I think we'll see Navarro getting way too many DH AB's regardless.
