Man, if they cut Estrada, I'll be pissed. That's 4m they could have put into 2-3 relievers to avoid having to use Castro and Osuna, plus they traded someone useful for him.
I'm guessing Hynes and Tolleson are next up, in that order.
Keep Hendriks as a reliever. Put Estrada in the rotation. Put Sanchez in the pen. Option Hynes and try to sneak Redmond down on waivers.
Improves rotation and improves bullpen.
Boyd is going to be in the Jays rotation at some point this season. His development will be important. Hopefully Travis' development (and Pillar's so far) will make the team appreciate the high floor talent a bit more.
My pre-season prediction of Gibbons being fired in May, being replaced by Hale, and then the Jays go on a huge run to make the playoffs is no longer a prediction. It's a wish. Please let it happen.
If Castro and Osuna are for real in the pen, then the Jays have four relievers they can count on late in games. That might be enough.
Still hate those two being in the bigs right now, though.
Agreed. I'm not a fan of Castro in the bigs, but using him for 4 f***ing pitches is ridiculous. Either you trust him or you don't. If you don't, then send him down. Don't use him as a 1 batter guy.
This loss is definitely on Gibbons trying to be cute. Loup and especially Cecil dealt with bad luck, but stick with the hot hand. Loup looked wild as hell on Monday too.
Lawrie will never hit like people thought he would. He's still a great defensive 3B, so if he stays healthy, he'll definitely be worth a lot for that reason alone, but I think league average offense is his talent level (or slightly below).
Glad I'm not the only one with this fear.
We cannot, I repeat, CANNOT trail the Yankees by the 5th inning over the next two games. These guys take every shortcut in the book.
ESPN's baseball coverage is fair to the Blue Jays.
ESPN in general (like First Take, PTI, etc) usually just spouts off about the NFL with very little knowledge of anything else, so they are far more likely to be ignorant about the game and only talk about A-Rod and/or Tanaka.
Baseball Tonight is usually pretty solid and fair with the Jays.
Considering Thursday's game is in jeopardy of being rained out, the off day today looks even dumber.
Say what you want about Skydome/RC, but at least you're guaranteed the games will actually get played. All stadiums should have retractable roofs.
