  1. Lol, one of those games where the Jays had no business winning it, but I'll take it.
  2. Getting a standing O from the crowd > wins. Oh well, at least the season is a lost cause, otherwise this s*** would be way more frustrating.
  3. Nevermind. I thought Gibbons would take Tepesch out after 6 but winning is apparently not something he wants to do.
  4. The good news is he got through six with only 1 run allowed. Bad news is he was absolute s*** and will now get another start where he won't be so lucky and will get his ass handed to him.
  5. Gibbons better have a quick f***ing hook here. Tepesch is dumpster fire.
  6. I refuse to live in a world where Keith Law was right about something, so dammit Tellez, turn into a big leaguer!
  7. I was hoping Dumbrowski would have traded him. Won't happen now. Darn.
  8. Yep. Jays need to go on a huge winning streak just to get back into real contention, and they'll have to do that with 2/5 of the rotation being dumpster fire. Rowley had a good start, but he's not reliable by any means. That's not even factoring the lineup with Barney/Ref and Goins up the middle, Pillar at center, and Raffy/Montero/Ohlman at catcher. Too little, too late. But hell, even if they fake contention from now until October, at least it will kill time. Nothing worse than waiting for the off-season to begin in August. Go on a fake run and keep me entertained.
  9. Agreed, but the alternative is watching an old ass team with no young players play out the string. Some blind hope at least is a good time passer until the off-season.
  10. One of the big reasons the Jays can't go on an extended winning streak is that they only have 3 mlb starters right now, and their depth is basically dumpster fire. They pretty much can't afford to lose the games Stro/Estrada/Happ start, and then have to pray when the other two SP's go. There has to be some Hellickson type scrub available via waivers that can at least eat some big league innings at an above replacement rate for the rest of the season. Better than watching Tepesch get his ass handed to him tomorrow and beyond.
  11. It is more surprising that the Jays view him as a second baseman. Has no one from the org watched him play defence before? Dude is trash in the infield. I know anything is better than Goins and Barney, but they actually have to be able to field at least a little bit too.
  12. Can't wait until Alford is the CF. can't stand Pillar.
  13. Extreme GB pitcher on the mound. Time to start Refsynder at second base. Sounds like a fool proof plan.
  14. If Estrada was pitching like this directly leading up to the trade deadline, then I think that would have been more likely. Now with the waiver process and two weeks already gone post trade deadline, teams might be less likely to give up enough value to make a deal worth while for the Jays. If I had to pin point a team that would be desperate enough to make a deal it would be Seattle (longest playoff drought), but not sure what they have left or what they'd give up. I'd love if the Jays got something good for Marco and then brought him back three months from now, but it's looking more likely that keeping him and re-signing him is the more likely scenario.
  15. I have said before I think Estrada will be back next season. Shapiro wants nothing to do with the free agent market and Estrada is practically endorsing that he wants to come back. Unless they get an actual good package for him, I think he will stay regardless of how the team is doing. He's not going to be Jay Bruce'd.
  16. I don't see why he would. He'd be a fairly cheap ($3-4mm?) gamble for six weeks. If he has cleared, then yeah, the Jays should hold out for actual value now.
  17. August 10, 2017 2B Samad Taylor assigned to Vancouver Canadians from Bluefield Blue Jays.
  18. Donaldson will be in a weird spot because he will be a free agent at age 33, the big market teams don't need 3b (unless Dombrowski turns Dumbrowski and trades Devers), and he will be competing in the same free agent class as Harper and Machado who are 6-7 years younger than him. If he tests free agency, he's probably not going to get the deals he thinks he will. The Jays should offer him a four year extension on top of his one year of control left. That sets him up from age 32-36. That's reasonable. If not, then let him test free agency or trade him next trade deadline.
  19. Holy s*** how much scrubs have the Jays started this year? Latos, Bolsinger, Valdez, Lawrence, Tepesch......god damn this season sucks.
  20. DJ Davis in his last 109 plate appearances: .333/.435/.400, 14 walks, 20 strike outs, 13 SB/1 CS. SSS for everyone!
  21. Yeah seriously. Other than one good half season in 2015, he's been utter trash for years and years. Not sure what the hell two front offices see in this guy, especially the current one that looks at advanced stats.
  22. Yeah that start basically screwed us. It's been an uphill battle all season because of that, and the team isn't as good as it was in 2015-16 to go on an extended run to compensate for it. It's kind of annoying that the 2nd wc is so trash this year that even a slightly better than .500 season by the Jays would have put them right there, but s*** happens.
  23. The Jays also have a bunch of games left against the teams they are chasing. It is a huge long shot especially since they'll be throwing scrubs out there in place of actual big league starters without Sanchez and Liriano, but if they can at least make September mean something it would be better than waiting for the season to end in August so the off season can start. Damn if Osuna doesn't blow 4 saves in 3 weeks.....
  24. I hope people will stop saying Osuna should be a starter now. Dude might not last his first six years of control as a reliever. His arm would explode out of his body with a starter's workload.
